(SR3) New E-mount Zeiss lenses for E-mount to be shown at Photokina in September?

According to two new sources (so not a certain rumor!) Sony will show new Zeiss lenses for E-mount at Photokina in September. The sources couldn’t tell me if Sony will only show or also release the lenses. The design of the lenses will be based on current ZM lenses. Click here to check out all current ZM lenses availability and prices on eBay.
Please keep in mind that the rumor is not from our known sources. We are trying to get some reliable infos from them. But we from SonyAlphaRumors are 100% sure that Zeiss will make lenses for the NEX-system. The question is only when they will make it and what lens will come. If you know something about the future ZEISS lenses feel free to contact us using the form on the right! Thanks!
Reminder (SR = Sonyrumor):
SR1=probably fake rumor
SR2=rumor from unkown sources
SR3=50% chance it is correct
SR4=rumor from known sources
SR5=almost certainly correct!

3 years ago |That would be brilliant. I have the 50/1.5 C Sonnar and it is my favourite Zeiss lens. I also have the 28/2.8 Biogon, which is good, but the 25/2.8 Biogon seems to be a tad better.
One thing though, the 15/2.8 and 85/2 are very (!!!) expensive @ around GBP 3k for the 15 and GBP 2K for the 85. Both are made by Zeiss in Germany, the others are manufactured by Cosina on behalf of Zeiss.

3 years ago |Before voting for the Sonnar 50/1.5 over the Planner 50/2 just due to its faster aperture it might be worth reading some reviews on them. I used to want the Sonnar for my Voigtlander range finder, until I learned it was kind of a specialty lens with “unique” bokeh at f/1.5. I now prefer the Planner even though I almost always prefer lenses with faster apertures when I have a choice.

3 years ago |This is a silly rumour. Zeiss are developing lenses specifically for the E-mount, that will be optimised for APS and will have AF. These are Old, expensive, manual focus, full frame lenses. Why on earth would they be adapted for E-mount use if you can simply use them with an M adapter?

3 years ago |I think Jan K is right. The rumor would only make sense, if Sony would present a full frame nex XX model.

3 years ago |I dont care if it is a zeiss lens or whatever..
but the nex system really needs a couple of good and not so expensive primes.
a 35mm around f2 would be very nice if they keep the price low (max. 200 maybe 300€).
this would be an awesome second camera system with the small nex5 size!

3 years ago |I agree with Jan K. The Zeiss lenses will be specific for the system, especially as that will help with size. They will also have autofocus.

3 years ago |Don’t really need Zeiss, but a $300 version of the new 35mm f1.8 with SSM for the E mount would be nice.

A full-frame NEX — with a user interface designed for advanced users (no touch screen menu crap), and definitely some finger/thumb wheel(s) — would just about rule the world.

3 years ago |I wouldn’t count on that – all E-mount lenses are DT only – can’t cover full frame.

3 years ago |A full frame NEX is doubtful.
On top of Sky_walker’s point, a full frame NEX would reduce the exclusivity/appeal of A mount cameras: you currently pay a premium for the bonuses of full frame, so any FF NEX would me priced closer to a FF DSLR; if they weren’t I can see a drop in A mount sales.
A large amount of people would pick the small form factor if it was possible quality-wise even at the same price point as a DSLR. It will take a shake up in full frame pricing (both production and sale) to get EVIL full frame much less than what you’d pay now.
In my opinion, it will either not be released, or be priced at $1500+

3 years ago |Matt – well, there are 2 reasons why I doubt it’d happen:
1. NEX stands for “New E-mount eXperience” – so if camera NEX-alike would be FF than it wouldn’t be named NEX. So let’s assume we talk in general about mirrorless camera:
2. Having the A-mount means you need to have sensor in exact same distance from lens as it is with regular DSLR. If so than there’s no point in having it mirrorless – it won’t be smaller. It won’t have OVF. It won’t have phase-detection AF. In general: fail.

3 years ago |The mount––E-mount––doesn’t preclude full frame, in the same way that A, F, EF, K, etc. mounts have both APS-C and FF. It probably won’t be called “NEX”, but I think there’s better than 50% chance that Sony will release an FF E-mount system. The goal, of course, would be to transition to the E-mount, rather than indefinitely having two mounts.

11 months ago |A FF NEX, or whatever it might be called would seriously kick some butts, namely Fujis X-Pro, the Leica M8/9s and of course conventional FF DSLRs.
It wouldn’t be too much of a technical problem to design it around the existing line of Sonys FF lenses, maybe via some small electronic adaptor, to keep the size of the body somewhat smaller, special lenses could be introduced later on.
For a FF NEX-7… I’d be willing to pay any reasonable price, and I guess I’m not alone here.
