(SR3) New EVF (electronic viewfinder) for the NEX coming soon?
Months ago our sources told us that Sony were working on a new EVF for the NEX cameras. SO the following rumor found on getdpi cuold be true:
“Our local retailer (who has a great relationship with Sony and stocks their higher-end lenses like the 24-70 f/2.8, 85mm f/1.4 etc) states that a clip-on EVF is on the way for the NEX range shortly. A side effect is that one will not be able to use the EVF and the clip-on flash at the same time, since they share the same mounting spot. I think this might be interesting for folks who like to frame with a viewfinder than on the screen, and might save some battery power too.”

2 years ago |I’d say the retailer may be a bit confused by the OVF which works with the 16mm only and thinks it may be an EVF instead. In the USA its price isn’t even know yet (Imaging-Resource)…
Would be a good thing to have an EVF, although because it will use the accessory port (so the same one as the flash and the current OVF), you can’t use the flash and the EVF at the same time…

2 years ago |I find this most likely to be a slip in understanding, and that the salesperson was describing the 16mm lens’s matched OVF. That they restate redundant information (that the viewfinder takes up the accessory shoe so that you can’t mount the flash, and that it will save battery power) all but confirms this theory.

if you’re using the flash on the nex you are using the camera wrong.
