(SR3) IMPORTANT UPDATE -> New Sony mirrorless camera specs? The Sony E-series!
UPDATE: I removed the FAKE image to avoid confusion (it has nothing to do with the rumor we post here)
————–
The rumored specs are from a new source (also take it easy ok?). The source told me he read the Sony mirrorless manual ![]()
He says the name of the mirrorless cameras will be “NEX5” and “NEX3“. They have a new mount…the “E-mount“. And they will come with two lenses: 18-55/F3.5-5.6 , 16mm/2.8.
Here the specs:
14mp APS-C CMOS
-brand new Sony E mount (adapter for A mount)
-used SDHC or MS
-RAW supported
-3.0 LCD 920K color
-11 AF point
-ISO 200-12800
-Video recording (model NEX5: 1080 NEX3:720p) format Mp4 or AVCHD
-built-in flash and AF Assistance light
-new FW50 batteries
body: NEX5-D/K/A NEX3-D/K/A
Lens: 18-55/F3.5-5.6 , 16mm/2.8
So finally is becoming a strong competition from Sony!

February 10, 2010 |Other than lack of ISO 100 – it seems to be great (although I hope they fixed the issue with details little lacking on that sensor… cause it seems to be A550 sensor).
Oh, and phase-detection AF on sensor? SWEET! 11 points for that… hehe, better than recent APS-C cams
16 f/2.8 – I wonder if they’ll make it for A mount too…. I’d buy that one gladly…

February 10, 2010 |I hope the new mount supports full frame even if they don’t have one at launch.

February 10, 2010 |Robert – it’s in previous rumor, “New Sony patent shows phase detection integrated on the image sensor.” – if Sony has such technology than I think that on 99% they’ll use it in mirrorless cameras.
lizard – I think it’s highly unlikely.

February 10, 2010 |I hope the E-mount is not true, and I hope the price is not true. Other than that i think it is the camera I’ve been waiting for!!

February 10, 2010 |E-Mount should be true and there must an adapter to use current A-Mount lenses. Otherwise you can not use current lenses if they remove the mirror. I believe Sony will not place sensor bit behind to use the current lenses without an adapter. the camera will not be contact in that case. The question is whether there will be any glass on the adapter or not. If there is glass, you gonna loose light and sharpness (however small it is) irrespective of the quality of the glass. If this is true, this camera will not gain popularity among current alpha users, even i will not buy them. Otherwise, with no glass, this guy will be popular. I have no idea if there is any limitation using no glass in the adapter or not. There may be some diffraction effect, if we do not use any glass which i am not sure, it depends on how they make it. Lets see…..

February 10, 2010 |It’s really stupid if you have to buy a pricey adapter to use the A lenses you already have, this does not make any sense to me, and besides the lenses you buy for the E mount can never be used on an Alpha A mount. Well looks like ill stick to mirror then, good things comes with a backside..plus now they will probably never put video on the A5xx class of DSLR’s either in the future.
What is the point of making a whole new system line for an APS-C sensor?, instead they could have used this opportunity to make a a330 type of body without mirror and video, no need for MLU either. So that’s why I don’t believe this at all.

February 11, 2010 |@Andrew Anderson
I agree on glas in adapter topic.
Another problem is the manual aperture on A-Mount.
@eerikoo
Alpha Mount Camera will never be as small as micro 4/3s camera.
With this (if it happens that way) Sony can make very small cameras but have bigger sensor than the m4/3s.
The m4/3s got a really good hit on the market and took some of the DSLR entry level market share!
The adapter is useful to extend the lens range with upper Grade glass.
On the other side many DSLR users like to have a small P&S camera with them.
Using the owned A-Mount glass with it, can’t be a bad thing
