(SR3) Small rumors: NEX autofocus speed and fps
I have been asked by many of you to try to get some info about the autofocus speed. I asked around and the answer I got is that the contrast autofocus is very fast. At least as fast as the Panasonic GH1 / GF1
autofocus. But we will have to wait until the official NEX release to be sure of that.
Another question was how many frames per second both cameras do have.
A first rumor I recieved says that the NEX3 will have 5fps and the NEX5 7fps. But I still need to doublecheck that news.
Thanks!

If only 1080p vs 720p/ fps, then NEX3 is okay for me!

I would like to know what the NEX7 looks like. It should be killer of all such devices. Or may be similar to the 550 and 700 series of DSLR it will only be much much better body – tilt display, some knobs and buttons not only touch screen.

3 years ago |I wonder if the NEX series will have in camera cropping. With 14 mp sensor I would love to have ability to quick change to effective 35mm crop when using the 16mm lens and have this crop reflected in the optical viewfinder.? With 5-7 fps this camera will be great for action shots and with optical finder no blackout.
The next new big development for a Exmor sensor would be electronic or global shutter? Any chance this camera has one, ie requires no mechanical shutter, saves a lot of space. The high speed operation would easily enable 1080P/24-50-60?
The feature I want is ability to capture photos immediately prior to when I press the shutter to take the picture for action shots or candids as a couple of the latest compacts now have. Ie can recover any of say 60 frames or about 3 seconds before snap as option puts sensor continously on erasing older pictures as memory buffer is full?

3 years ago |I agree Leo. If 1080p is pretty much the only difference I definitely prefer the Nex3. These are exciting cameras and hopefully they will put pressure on Panasonic to where they have to start lowering their prices.

3 years ago |As for crop – I doubt it’d be possible.
As for taking photos prior shutter release – this would cause sensor temperature to raise above what’s needed, and therefore noise would be sightly higher. I doubt Sony would go for that.
Kiril – AFAIK NEX7 will look very similar to NEX5.
