(SR3) The first Sony NEX mirrorless cameras are very similar to the Panasonic GF1
According to the same sources that posted the NEX5 and NEX3 specs (on a chinese forum) both cameras will be very compact. He says the shape is very similar to the Panasonic GF1 and it doesn’t have built-in electronic viewfinder. A bigger model with better video capabilities and built-in EVF is planned to be announced after the NEX5-NEX3 models.
REMINDER Fot those that still don’t know the specs:
He says the name of the mirrorless cameras will be “NEX5” and “NEX3“. They have a new mount…the “E-mount“. And they will come with two lenses: 18-55/F3.5-5.6 , 16mm/2.8.
Here the specs:
14mp APS-C CMOS
-brand new Sony E mount (adapter for A mount)
-used SDHC or MS
-RAW supported
-3.0 LCD 920K color
-11 AF point
-ISO 200-12800
-Video recording (model NEX5: 1080 NEX3:720p) format Mp4 or AVCHD
-built-in flash and AF Assistance light
-new FW50 batteries

3 years ago |I wonder if the “X” in the name has special meaning in it, something that will indicate what kind of sensor it’ll be using? like the WX/TX series?

3 years ago |I think the name is more like “NEXt”, to show that it’s ‘future’ model
“A bigger model with better video capabilities and built-in EVF is planned to be announced after the NEX5-NEX3″ – hm… so how expensive it gonna be if NEX-5 is already going more expensive then A550? A700 price-range? And…. any reasons why I gonna buy uber-small mirrorless camera priced as much as A700?

3 years ago |It would be nice from Sony to provide a possibility for using the whole range of Zeiss lenses with M mount for the Zeiss Ikon Rangefinder Cameras:

With only two lenses and a new lens attach my choice would be probably a used Leica 8.2.

3 years ago |I applaud Sony for this move to mirror-less interchangeable lens design,
Like other similar cameras, adapters will more than likely
be available for a wide range of lenses including Leica. I will
be most interested if an adaptor will eventually make it possible to use
the lenses from my Contax G2 … those three lenses are superb
and small.

3 years ago |I have now seen staements from two entirely different sources that Sony will simply have its E-mount lenses under case at PMA, that the cameras are not year ready for release. And Thom Higan, within the last week, said that he thought perhaps that the new A7xx cameras would be announced at PMA, Of course, several Sony souces have apparently said the opposite.

3 years ago |Will the 16mm f2.8 be a kit lens? Can you just get the camera and the 16mm? If so I am very interested in these cameras. That is the perfect lens for me. If I could only have one lens that is what I would want.
