No its not essential but it is wise. I often dont bother to switch off when changing lenses, but I should.

If that is the case, OVF also would lose its point of existence.

It would make more sense to ask before going through the expense of manufacturing an OVF and EVF model. That’s the point.

Reading a few very vocal comments in forums is not a way to plan the manufacture of a new model.

I said it up ^there^, for all we know the majority of professionals asked might want an EVF. WE don’t know!
