(SR4) UPDATED-> Finally…Sony A850 and A900 firmware coming!

One month ago in many forums people started to say that Sony could release the long expected firmware for the A850 and the A900. We didn’t hear anything form our sources so we posted the “rumor” with a low value “SR2=from unkown sources”.
What we post now is a rumor from one of our trusted sources. The Sony A850 and the Sony A900
will be released in March!
I really hope Sony has been able to address all the critics we read in the forums during the last months!
UPDATE: I have no details about the new firmware. I was only told that it will be a “major update”.

March 3, 2010 |I wonder why Sony is soo lazy just to release a firmware. It seems Sony does not want to do business in DSLR just they are keeping the alpha mount alive.
this is awesome
March 3, 2010 |This is great! Also will be the decider if I upgrade to an A850 or just wait till photokina. SWEET!!!

This rumour page.
I was told they were working on it 7 months ago when I bought my A900. Must be one guy with a candle and a 266 chipped computer.

March 3, 2010 |Following SONY’s DSLR development logic, trend is clear. a850 and a900 have too many features. With latest FW update some of them have to be removed.
That’s because some “experts” at Sony never think, because they know.
ISO upgrade!
March 3, 2010 |See I think there will be upgrade for ISO definetly. Also I think the firmware upgrade will make video 720p possible.
not going to happen
March 3, 2010 |You all should stop dreaming. The writing has been on the wal for a couple of years now. Sony doesn’t do firmware updates anymore. Period. (Unless the product can’t function without)

March 3, 2010 |Currently A900 & 850 Auto crops when DT lens are used.
Firmware should address this problem.
We should be able to select if we want to crop it or not.
SONY are you listening ?

March 3, 2010 |Andrea, is this rumor in addition to the one you just posted–that rumors are coming?
Man, the sarcasm is rampant, even here. I hope Sony soon squashes it!

March 3, 2010 |I suggest a new name for “Sony electronics Pvt. Ldt.” as “Rumor (mock-up) electronics Pvt Ltd”..Lol!!

March 3, 2010 |I wish Sony would just make a pre-announcement. 5d Mark II did it, so why can’t they.
It would cool down a lot of the Sony Forums on the web.

March 3, 2010 |I agree with JB on this. But I think the A7xx is coming this year.

March 4, 2010 |Pre-announcing the firmware is IHMO ridiculous.
“You all should stop dreaming. The writing has been on the wal for a couple of years now. Sony doesn’t do firmware updates anymore. Period” – Right, and the A100, A700, A230, A330, A380 haven’t got any updates. Sorry but anyone with basic Sony knowledge knows that the company do make an updates.

March 4, 2010 |My guess is improved noise performances. Sony demonstrated that they can *now* get it right (see A500/A550), so maybe they will reinvest in the A850/A900 the noise processing knowledge they acquired while designing A500&A550.
Maybe the JPEG output engine will be better as well, because Sony is still way behind Canikon in that respect.

March 4, 2010 |Yeah, hope they improve on noise performance. Lets cross the finger.

March 6, 2010 |I too notice that the two newer posts are gone. There was the youtube video on the APS HD sensor, then another about a tip from one of your most trusted sources? Was that Youtube video a fake?
Have you great weekend.
