(SR4) UPDATED -> Not only Zeiss 24mm also one fullframe and one DT lenses to be announced tomorrow!!!
Exclusive from SonyAlphaRumors! We received first “hints” that not only the Zeiss 24mm f/2.0 will be announced tomorrow. According to some of our sources Sony is also preparing the launch of two primes (not Zeiss). One is the 35mm and the other the 85mm lens. They should have an affordable price and be relative fasts.
UPDATE: The 24mm and 85mm are Fullframe lenses. I am not sure about the 35mm (is it APS-C or FF?). One new source told me that it is a 35mm DT lens with f/1.8 aperture (Like the $loc = $_SESSION['geoip'];
if ($loc == 'GB' OR $loc == 'UK')
{ $sel = "1"; ?>Nikon 35mm f/1.8 (for APS-C) }

{?>Nikon 35mm f/1.8 (for APS-C) } ?>). The Fullframe 85mm could have an aperture of f/2.8!
It’s a nice coincidence that the two G primes are both on the upper part of our lens poll results: Click here to see the POLL results
The announcement is expected to be made tomorrow…So follow us on SonyAlphaRumors! Don’t miss any news follow us also on Facebook or/and Twitter or/and RSS feed!
P.S.: I don’t know the final price of the Zeiss 24mm f/2.0 lens. I hope it’s cheaper than the Sony 85mm f1.4 Carl Zeiss Planar T Lens!

2 years ago |Any more news on SSM being added to the Zeiss 85mm and 135mm?
JB
2 years ago |Ummm, I wish there will be a 50mm “G”.

2 years ago |I hope, they make some FF Cams for the FF lenses…
Q
2 years ago |Why would you need a G labelled 50mm, the current one is excellent, my copy is sharp wide open and they out resolve the FF sensor.
J
2 years ago |They need a 50mm G lens for the gear heads/junkies. That is, people who believe that a mark of a good photographer is a large collection of the latest, quality camera equipment (albeit a lack of actual knowledge/skill on how to use their equipment).

2 years ago |finally, i’ve been saying for about a years sony needs a 85mm f/1.8, the sad thing about both lenses is taht they will be compared to nikon’s 35mm f/1.8 and canon’s 85mm f/1.8 which are cheap and darn good, if sony manages to equal them, then maybe there is still hope for sony to one be pe at the top of the pecking order in the dslr market.

2 years ago |oh i forgot, if i am not mistaken, David K. said a while ago sony is about to introduce 2 new cheap lenses a 85mm and a 35mm.

2 years ago |Finally some really good news
I’m impatient to see the new ‘G’ lenses!

2 years ago |Not bad news, really. The price indicated is actually more than affordable and therefore unlikely.

2 years ago |Sounds good… I Really wanted a 35mm, but the performance of the current G was just poor. Hope they have SSM.

2 years ago |Yeah 85 f2.8 is OK (but f1.8 should be more appealing) as long as it is G, have 9 blades circular, and SSM and affordable. I think with video Sony should release more SSM lens. I think 24 f2 is really an important lens. With FF it is 24 and with APS it become 36 (very close to 35).

2 years ago |wow… 35mm f/1.8 G? It’ll be cheapest G lens out there, lol, if comparable to Nikon it’ll be of course. Hehe, nice.
Either way none of these interest me much (Tamron 90mm f/2.8 does the job well, is very sharp (aside from wide open which I don’t use often anyway) plus: it’s macro-capable), while I don’t have much need for 35mm.
Still it’s great that Sony is filling the 3rd and 13th lens on the list of most needed lenses. Looks like their research department did the job well! Hope that they’ll come with the other lenses on the list too, hehehehe

2 years ago |OK, after the update I’m seriously disappointed.
DT 35/1.8 sounds reasonable, but who wants a 85mm/F2.8 lens if it’s not a macro maybe?
Frenske
2 years ago |A 85mm f2.8 does not make much sense. It needs to be a lot cheaper than for example the excellent Sigma 70mm f2.8 or even the very cheap Tamron 90mm f2.8 which have the added macro functionality albeit a bit slow focusing but a 85mm f2.8 is not a typical sports lens anyway. Lets pray the rumor is wrong and that it is actually a 85mm f2 or f1.8. A 85mm f2 or f1.8 for about £250-300 should be an attractive buy for a lot of photography enthusiasts.
Myst
2 years ago |that 85 must be something special if it’s f/2.8 only, otherwise sony have dropped the ball.
icie
2 years ago |Special 85 f/2.8? STF with AF? Ah, we can always dream.

2 years ago |Special 85 f/2.8? STF with AF? Ah, we can always dream.
The af of the current STF is rendered useless only by the phase AF of the camera, with contrast AF the STF might focus, given a proper micro motor.

2 years ago |I hope 35mm lens would be used for FF

2 years ago |It will be interesting to see if the two G lens are for E mount instead of A mount:
1) With a flange back distance 10 mm shorter than the Tele-Tessar T* 4/85 ZM ( http://www.cosina.co.jp/seihin/cz/tt-85/index.html ) ,
the 85mm in E mount should be able to go to f2.8 with minimal changes to the optical recipe of this Leica mount lens.
This lens would also be relatively compact for it’s focal length.
2) There has already been talk of Sony making a 35mm-ish f1.8 E mount lens.

2 years ago |Really disappointed if the 35mm is a DT lens and not a FF lens. They already have the 30/2.8 DT macro in that range, but no good options for FF in that range.

2 years ago |The old Minolta 35mm F2 seems to be a very good lens

2 years ago |TBH i’ve just looked on jessops and it’s £220 for the 85mm f2.8, which seems good but i would have rather paid £300-£350 for an f2 at least.
