I was waiting for a FF SLT from Sony for years. It was interesting to see the launch of Sony a99 last year. However, I've not yet bought it. The main concerns are as follows:
1. The 19 cross points focusing area is not wide enough;
2. The attractive AF-D function is only compatible to a limited Sony's lenses;
3. There are too strong considerations for Video taking. And I think that is not a good thing for photographers.

SONY D-AF Dual Phase Detect AF system on A99

Sony DSLRs are funny with there ONLY 19 Point AutoFocus system
Instead of giving up more DSLR camera AutoFocus points like the rest of the
camera world, Sony is promoting this (non-tested? or proven? ) autofocus system
Yet I can NOT find much about it, even on SONY's own website
D-AF has hearsay and of course zellous fanboys cheering,
Before moving to A99 We need more than just -
Fan Happiness and It makes me Feel good reviews of the A99 D-AF

How about independent third party testings?
with Action photography - Compared to D800 or D800E or even the D600

1) What SONY Lens are FULLY compatible with this D-AF system
Please list them specifically

2) Are there ANY NON- Sony or Third Lens currently available or even nearby?
If so what are the models

3) Are there ANY verifiable - TRUELY Independent Third Party Evalatuions D-AF
- Compared to any other DSLRs or D800 or D800E or even the D600

That might not be the case with Nissin due to their equipment being highly modular at the core level as well as upgradeable through USB. There is firmware already available for A99, unfortunately this firmware isn't installable through USB like the rest. But Nissin did promise a free firmware upgrade, all I have to do is ship it to a closest authorized repair center. I think there's only one in US, in Maryland I think. Can't remember.
In the worst case scenario I'll just have to pay $50 for a shoe repair in order for them to replace a shoe and install firmware.
