(UPDATED) And here it is the NEX-FS100!!! The professional version of the VG-10.

What the hell! That’s a nice videocamera! Crews.tv just posted the first images and specs of the new NEX-FS100 camera. There is no official Sony press release yet but I am quite sure they got the right specs and images. This is the model we epxected to be placed above the Sony NEX-VG10. It will compete against the Panasonic AG-AF100.
UPDATE: Now it’s official! You can read everything at pro.sony.com. The bad news is that Crews.tv apparently made an error and the price is much higher: $6,550.00!!!
Features:
- Exmor™ Super 35mm CMOS image sensor
- E lens mount (and most other popular mounts via adaptor)
- Full HD 1920×1080 AVCHD HD recording / MPEG2-SD recording

- XLR audio inputs (XLR x2)
- Detachable 3.5″ colour viewfinder
- On-board Memory Stick, SD memory card and optional HXR-FMU128 flash memory media

it is a modular handle, you can remove it, extend etc.

2 years ago |Sure the sensor is “35mm”?
Or rather APS-C like all the other NEX?
ieR
2 years ago |very confuse, 35mm, if so, but, that 18-200 is not DT????
admin
2 years ago |Super 35mm referrs to the film sensor size not to the photographic 35mm size. Super 35mm is very close to the APS-C sensor size.
Lando
2 years ago |Its Super 35mm, which is close to APS-C, but wider.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_35
Its the standard 35mm movie film size.
Mistral75
2 years ago |Sony’s APS-C is 15.6mm x 23.4mm (3:2 form factor).
The 3-perf Super 35 motion picture format is 14mm x 24.89mm (16:9 form factor).
The Sony Exmor™ Super 35mm sensor is actually a bit smaller than that: 13.3mm x 23.6mm. So its diagonal (and image circle) is a bit smaller than APS-C: 27.09mm instead of 28.12mm.
There is therefore no problem with mounting a DT lens in front of an Exmor™ Super 35mm sensor.

2 years ago |You guys should check out this comparison between sensor sizes for the af100 versus the super 35mm versus the aps-c.
http://provideocoalition.com/index.php/freshdv/story/af100_sensor_size/
But something I dont understand, the sensor would be slightly larger than all the light given by the e-mount lens…so that extra amount of sensor is just going to be wasted?!? It would only be good for adapter for cine lens?
Cheers, Josh

Well, the “RAW” refers to 4:4:4 RGB?
I think one will never get it below $20000.

2 years ago |that’s the news!
let’s hope moirè is vanished or sony won’t win against panasonic.
and let’s hope improvements will make it (in some part) in future NEX cameras!
waiting impatiently for some more video deomnstrations..
Sky_walker
2 years ago |It is gone – watch PMW-F3 videos – this camera uses exact same sensor so image quality will be very very similar.
Knocks out Panasonic.
jazzroy
2 years ago |It’s not only about sensor, it’s also about processor and how it interpolates pixels.
even NEX-5 could have no moirè with its current sensor if the processor would do some pixel interpolation from the 14 megapixel source instead of its current primitive line skipping..
gigino
2 years ago |For RAW, a part a 20k video camera you also need a 7000$ computer to manage the files in real time.
On different note, the EOS fanboys hoping for RAW in the 5D mark III, will dream for long time. the hardware to mage raw will not fit on a DSLR body, under current technology.

2 years ago |I dont know much about cine cameras–how does this compare to the competition (canon mainly)?
It’s very RED like….but perhaps in appearance only?
gigino
2 years ago |it is better than the Canon in any single aspect but price. though for the price you get much more.
The base iso of this sensor is 800iso, like the ARRI Alexa which is 50 grands. (of course image quality from Alexa is better but…).
RED will be better than the FS-100 as well, but with the right post prod and good lighting, some footage may be difficult to discern.

2 years ago |I don’t know from where Nigel Cooper gets his informations, but in the review for this camera he writes:
“Current Sony E-Mount lenses include: 16mm F2.8, 18-55 F3.5-5.6 and an 18-200 F3.5-6.3. Not exactly fast by any means, but you can use other lenses from other manufacturers with an adaptor. Sony are brining out some more lenses for this camera during the course of 2011, these will include a Zeiss 24mm F2, 30mm F3.5 Macro, 40mm F2 and a 55-210.”
I think it’s interesting, but I don’t know how accurate this is.
Mistral75
2 years ago |Part of it is inaccurate and part is rumoured.
Official news from Sony (Photokina then CP+) are:
- four new lenses in 2011: CZ 24mm, 30mm macro, 50mm portrait lens (not 40mm) and 55-200mm (not 55-210mm);
- three additional ones in 2012: wide angle zoom, high performance standard zoom G and mid-telephoto lens.
Rumoured max apertures are CZ 24mm f/1.7 – 30mm f/3.5 Macro – 50mm f/1.8 and 55-200 f/4-5.6.
