2 years ago |Them scenes seem great, the only one I’m not convinced on is the Portrait. I’d rather a fast portrait lens that blurs the background rather than artificially doing it. We’ll have to see some samples first though, but hopefully a portrait lens will be in the pipeline.

2 years ago |Mostly yes, but the handheld night shot sounds like the handheld twilight mode on the hx5 which produces some very good night shots. I agree on the portrait mode, but as long as there is a P and Manual mode i’m happy. You can always focus manually.

2 years ago |Ok, I was wrong. The scene modes give some important info about the camera. One screen shot says attach and use flash, confirming that the camera will come with exyernal flash.
2. The camera will have Hxv5 feature of twilight mode (3rd from the last) implying very fast fps. (Hxv5 does it by taking 6 photos in a fraction of a second).

What is written is “Attach and use a flash”. “A flash”, not “flash” or “the flash”. Therefore it simply implies the absence of an internal flash and the possibility to use an external one, not the fact that an external flash is included in the standard offer.

Does Handheld Night Shot take several images and combine them intelligently or something? It sounds as if it might. I guess you just try to hold really still so it can do its work. It would make still objects such as buildings sharp, but people or anything that moves would become blurry trails, right?

2 years ago |@will: yes it combines up to 6 images into a single one. I believe the algorythms are improved, so it recognizes moving objects. What it does is pick the right iso and stack the images. Leading to reduced noise, improved detail and more naturally looking pictures.
