(SR5) More Tidbits about the A77 (definitely coming in early October, NEX-7 late October)
I received a couple of mini-rumors from different sources. I summed them up and here they are:
Source_1: A77 accuracy and video performance with new the auto focus is superb. OLED display is amazing. The A77 would be around $1200-1300 US and $1500-1600 with kit lens (16-50).
Source_2: A77 will have 11 cross type AF (UPDATE: This part has been corrected…was a typo)
Source_3: A77 auto-focus is indeed insanely fast.
Source_4: A77 will have fixed problem with x/sync when sss is turn on 
they will be no limit like now 1/160 sync when sss is on.
Source_5: Just a confirmation the A77 will start shipment in early October (in Asian countries first!). NEX-7 will start shipment 2 weeks after.

2 years ago |Lens is rumored to be designed specifically for the A77′s 24 MP resolution $800,(the Tamron 17-50 equivalent can be had for $400) SSM and weather sealed but you are right it could be a piece of junk.

2 years ago |Any rumor about the bitrate of the video? the 17mbps ( a55 / nex5 ) is not enough to get high quality, I hope the a77 / nex7 can save at 24mbps like the Mark II, is the only way to considered the camera for use profresional.
Recently I bought the Sony TX10, a compact camera around 250$ and you can record at 24mbps ( FULL HD ) so is not only a option for high-end videocameras like NEX-FS100 or advanced cameras like NEX-VG10.
I know the AF with the SLT system is a very important option, but if we work with 9 or 17mbps is like use the a900 in 24mpx and save in jpg in 3 quality…

2 years ago |Could you issue a request to your sources and find out if there will be a PC-Sync socket and gain compensation in the A77 to allow shooting with studio strobes. The current SLTs display is too dark to use for framing when set to manually expose for non-auto flashes.

2 years ago |One could only use shutter speeds of 1/160 and lower for full range of flash power. A850/900 can go up to 1/250 – great for outdoor shooting. Maxxum 9 had 1/300 – very fast shutter!!! Leaf shutters being the fastest in the 1/1000 range.

2 years ago |I wonder sometimes if I’m the only one who feels uneasy when reading such epithets as “superb”, “amazing”, “insanely fast”. Usually this sort of language is used to advertize or promote something. I don’t mean it’s a crime, but many people (me included) are in the habit of associating advertisement with commercial interest. If this is the case, OK, just let’s know it. If not, a tone down would make the whole thing more convincing.

2 years ago |this is rumor site. of course is involve all possible news of possible new release camera spec and tester feedbacks. via those abjective verbs, it clearly to describe the rumor product performance.
when user pissoff when read something, good AF speed, high ISO, nice shutter sound etc. People tend to scold against to admin why those spec are so general and wish look into more deeper detail -how good of every feature.
Do not over sensitive about those terms. get used to it:D it just serve to be rumor in the end.

2 years ago |The EVF will have lag, it’s displaying a photograph that takes the usual exposure time to shoot and process before it can be displayed. To say nothing of having to process all your camera settings before sending it to display on the EVF. Let’s hear how much the lag will be under different shooting conditions. Many of my subjects cannot be ordered to stay still and pose waiting for the EVF. Nor do they even tell me which way they are going or go on a predictable path. The a55 had way too much lag for such work for me.
Not that I’m expecting Sony will want to let people know it’s lag specs.

Of course there will be lag, of course the A55 had lag that was way too much for some BUT what no-one – you included – knows is whether the A77 lag will be noticeable. Since this is a rumour site about what MIGHT happen, why persist with your dreary anti-Sony pessimisms dressed up as fact?
We know that you will never ever buy an SLT DSLR – you’ve clearly stated so on many occasions – so I’m puzzled as to why you waste your time with such comments about a camera that you have absolutely no interest in, or do you get some perverse pleasure in demonstrating to everyone how miserable you are?

2 years ago |Lol…While the “Insanely” fast operating speed and “Superb” autofocus might just be the best thing since the D3S, us Pro photographers and Amateur enthusiasts alike need some concrete numbers, it’s all that matters when your putting all your trust into your camera to do the job. For the millionenth time what is the actual ISO range and will the camera have a pixel binning mode as is being talked about on the D400 on the 24Mpix sensor to acheive “insanely” (look I used another non descriptive adverb!) clean high ISO.
Please admin can you try and get some real numbers, keep up the great work your doing though!

The alternative is either say nothing and have people on here saying because you haven’t mentioned it must be dreadful or set some arbitery numbers for people to claim are useless because there old fav did better(probably measured a different way) The “insane” descriptive at least gives us some idea what to expect.

2 years ago |Ask yourself, if you are the admin, you do not want to share the greatest info to public? eg: AF speed is 0.005s with kit pro lens; the shutter sound measured and just have -88dB. the ISO noise have exceed 30% >MKII.
If admin have, he will do share on SAR. do not getting sensitive of those term. try fit your foot on other shoe before state something

2 years ago |It’s often very clear that some readers of this site fail to read the rumor at all and just start reading the various posters dribble and then complain about rumor based on some posters hopes and fears.
It’s amusing to read some of this stuff that all of the sudden becomes part of the admin’s rumor when it was never there to begin with.
I guess this just happens after a number of people put a spin on something.

2 years ago |Forgive me for my English, I use a translator. This camera are waiting for 4 years. Sony is pulled with the release of top-end cameras with APS-C matrix. The cameras of this class suggest other use than a55/a580. They are often used by professionals for the job, especially in countries such as Ukraine and Russia, where the photographer to accumulate on d3 is not so easy. Professional efficiency is very important. If only it was a classic SLR, the issues would not exist. But this SLT and the problem of her younger models are already known. I mean lag and viewfinder lag viewfinder after the shot. For potential buyers, these questions are critical.

2 years ago |Cross type AF points are more accurate and faster focusing than non-cross type. This is because they detect contrast changes both horizontally and vertically.

2 years ago |Also on some surfaces the linear AF points (standard one) won’t work at all. Surfaces with horizontal lines will be detected by vertical AF point, but not horizontal AF point. That’s the major difference between cross and linear points. Cross points tend to work almost always, linear might not even despite of perfect lightning & surface contrast.
