(SR3) New SAL-18-250mm with SAM leaked?
UPDATED: We have some troubles about the picture and we don’t know if the image is correct or not.
According to an anonymous sender the current Sony 18-250mm lens
P.S.: SAM lenses have autofocus motors built into the lens.

Be careful when you receive these images from anonymous sources – Remember last year when there was some adolescent who enjoyed developing fake spec. sheets. Probably the same thing type of thing here. The faker probably had his first beer, created this in photoshop based on the original image above, sent to you, waited to see what would happen. I just hope puberty is treating him well.
I will send a separate email with the detail to tell you how I know this is a fake.

I know that it doesn’t look fake, because the Photoshop artist put a bit of effort into it. But the faker missed a couple of key pieces. I emailed Andrea those details so that Andrea can make a decision about it’s authenticity. Andrea can choose to change the SR rating.

Good find – Indeed it does looks like the faker used a lot of the 28-75/2.8 image. For other reasons, I know the faker used the older 18-250 as the part of the image in Photoshop. From what you provided, it looks like the child probably blended a lot of the 28-75/2.8 image with some of the 18-250 image.

Sony has 17% of Tamron and the Sony 55-200, 28-75. 18-200, 18-250, 11-18 etc, are the same Tamron version. Sony could make the 18-270mm SAM for the new A33 and A55.

2 years ago |Fake or not Sony has to introduce multiple SAM or SSM lenses now that video is finally becoming standard in all new cameras, even the 85 & 135 and 16-80 ZA’s need to be updated. Strange how all the talk is about the new cameras yet little has been said about new lenses
