(SR5) Price of the body only is around $2,800. Big announcement day on September 12th!
On top: Real Sketch of the A99.
Trusted sources confirmed that the price of the A99 body only should be around 2800 Euro/Dollars. There will be slightly variations form country to country but this is the price you should expect! This is about 600 Euro/Dollar cheaper than the Canon 5DmarkIII (price and specs here) and $200 cheaper than the Nikon D800 (price and specs here). Sources told me this is really a unique camera as it is definitely the best hybrid stills and video Full Frame camera they have ever tested. What you should expect is not only a nice camera but a full system with plenty of useful and innovative accessories!

9 months ago |I just wonder why they couldn’t stuff a 3.2 LCD screen on A99. Was it to keep size and weight down? Who knows.

9 months ago |Please tell me there is going to be GPS included with this camera like there is on our A77′s… Really love this feature and have been looking forward to the new full frame but GPS is a must for me and I have not used my portable GPS logger for a long time and happy for it to be left in the draw…

9 months ago |Why is the name so important. Maybe they call the next FF alpha 1.

9 months ago |I know there are a lot of comments about the price but this happens regardless of brand when a camera in this range is released. You simply cannot compare it to what Canon and Nikon has offered because it’s simply different tech. Some will love it and some will not. If I HAD to do a price comparison then it would have to be the D600 since it will more than likely share the same sensor.

9 months ago |You are making the assumption the 99 is not as good as these fine cameras. If the 99 proves to be as good as these 2 cameras then there is no reason the price would not reflect this. Grant it, I would love for this camera to be less expensive, but when I decide to buy my next camera it is one of these 3 and the 800 has dropped a notch because its fps is too slow for sporting events and now there are rumblings that the resolution is so good that the mirror movement can cause a blur. The 5DM3 better be a bit better because it appears to cost $600 more.

9 months ago |Nikon D800 and Canon eos 5 markIII are not considered “by me that I’m professional photographer” pro cameras. Pro cameras (for FX format) are Nikon D4, D3s, D3, D3x. Canon EOS-1D X, Canon EOS-1D.

9 months ago |I’m going +1 on the idea that $2800 is too much for this camera.
Eliminating OVF with claims that EVF is cheaper SHOULD mean that the a99 is the cheapest FF on the market… D600 is going to eat the a99′s lunch (and Sony’s sensor division will thank them!)
Also: FPS isn’t an impressive a number without a buffer-depth number to go alongside. 10FPS for 7 shots? Or for 150? Or…?
