(SR5) Sony picture effects also for the A35 (we already knew it was coming for NEX).

On top you can see the list of all 11 new picture effects coming for the A35, the NEX-C3 and for the NEX-3 and NEX-5 via firmware update. It would have been nice to see a tilt-shift effect too. Or even better, it would be nice if you could create your own kind of effect you can share for free with the community! I should have patent that idea before to post it here
Reminder: Sony will announce the new cameras on June 3! You can follow us live on SonyaAlphaRumors!

pancanikonpus
12 months ago |exactly! these are good stuff offer in camera!
Gunnar
12 months ago |i hope they dont forget a timelapse mode and other actually useful things over this toying around.. and let you keep the RAW, while saving the jpg with those filters
SonyA77
12 months ago |These are consumer cameras, why would consumers be bothered about time-lapse and RAW? They don’t have a clue what RAW is.
Gunnar
12 months ago |i know those cams are entry level, but i doubt those features will be missing in the A77, so if they bother implementing filtering i just hope they remember that its actually a camera they develop their stuff for and thus implement some more features that are attractive for actual photographers too
especially since some of those are so much easier to implement then a image filter engine.. those mobile-phoney features are neat and all, but if they keep hunting mobile phones instead of setting cams apart from mobile phones and showing more features phones just cant do then, where is the point of using a cam instead of a phone? ..just saying..
SonyA77
12 months ago |Features aren’t mutually exclusive, if the A77 has these, then I am sure it will have other stuff too.
specularist
12 months ago |Nonsense; most pro/enthusiast NEX users use RAW exclusively on the NEX, especially with their top-end Leica, Contax G Zeiss, Voigtlander etc. glass!
Just take a look around flickr or dpreview.
SonyA77
12 months ago |Read what I put, “CONSUMERS”. The vast majority of them do not have a clue what RAW is. Ask your average noob dSLR user and they have no idea what RAW is, you’d get the same response from an average NEX user too. Flickr and dpreview are not good sources of what the vast majority of consumers do with their cameras.

12 months ago |What about ability to change the ISO limit for AutoISO?
Jack Leboul
12 months ago |Good point Paul.
I have both the Nex-5 and a55 but a great feature I missed from my Nikon D40 is the ability to set minimum shutter speed and Max ISO on AutoISO.
Any info on this?
ageha
12 months ago |Pentax’ DSLRs can do it too but I guess Sony will never offer that feature.
SonyA77
12 months ago |The A700 allows you to set auto ISO, mine is set to max 800. I thought (but can’t remember) that my A200 did it too.
Jack Leboul
12 months ago |Unfortunately the a55 or NEX-5 do not have this function.
One would hope this would only take a firmware to add this considering that several of Sony models have it as well as all Nikon.
Combining min. shutter speed and max ISO on AutoISO is very useful and powerful.

12 months ago |if they are going to release those effects via software update for NEX3 and 5, they should also release them for A33 and A55..They should also add more features via firmware update to A33 and A55 (3 images with timer option, etc.)
Gunnar
12 months ago |+1 ..i`m sure they will

12 months ago |I would be really surprised (and angry) if they would deliver the NEX C3 firmware update to NEX3 and 5 and do not deliver the A35 updates to the A33 and A55 users. I really hope they fixed some of the annoying bugs like the dark EVF in manual mode (strobist/studio flash problem).
SonyA77
12 months ago |What amazes me about the A33/55 studio bug is that nobody noticed it and fixed it during testing. It does make you wonder if these cameras were tested by photographers…
apamau
12 months ago |I share the same thought, shouldn’t this be available to A33 / A55 as well, instead just Nex ? since it can run in A35, it’s just a firmware update anyway.

polo
12 months ago |i hoped for a new NEX/Alpha should have wifi or any wireless capability. with this effects, don’t you like to share them right away online to sites such as twitter, facebook, flickr, etc. or directly to your computer, phone or tablet.
i know there’e Eye-Fi but come on.. these effects are begging to be uploaded without connecting your camera/memory card to your computer. (ala instagr.am)

12 months ago |All these A35 “leaks” look to me like an orchestrated marketing effort on Sony’s part. Nothing wrong with it but really I’m not interested in the low-end of Sony gear.
When are we going to have more details about A77 and new full frame cameras? Isn’t there anybody out there who knows something and is willing to talk? Come on…
I’m waiting to use my full frame lenses the way God meant them to be used.

12 months ago |Hey, what about the masterpiece button? Or the button is for the A77? Then what about the masterpiece effect? I can’t see any!

Boost the cyan%blues in the shadows, boost the yellows&reds in the highlights. Gives it an analog look with a lot more character.

12 months ago |Is there any news on price?
Will the A35 replace the A290 and A390 as Sony’s entry level budget model?
RTI
12 months ago |So a35 along with the new nex will be blondes’ favorite cameras
SonyA77
12 months ago |and as a result will sell well, that’s the point
RTI
12 months ago |Well I have to agree with that; But by that each brand in its segment has an image. Sony tried to create cameras that appeal to professionals and enthusiasts – A850/A900, but the cameras were made to their detriment – weren’t profitable. But the image counts, now Sony is making easy to use cameras, and loses the Minolta pedigree, IMO ofc.
Stewe
12 months ago |Why do they think that these useless functions are worth our attention?
RTI
12 months ago |Sony doesn’t care about your attention, they care about making money; actually selling cameras, so the marketing boyz decided to fill the cameras with crap, this way it will appeal to point&shooters who decided to upgrade their cameras.

12 months ago |Lot of stuck up photographers in here. You think you people are so good cause you know what RAW is? I’m not a professional photographer, and neither am I a “point and shooter”, but I do agree though, that a lot of people buying DSLRs have no fcuking idea what to do with their cameras, besides looking cool. But still, get you heads out of your asses people.
