partly its obviously the size, but the most impressive is the dynamic range of those sony sensors.. look at the same size samsung sensor which has the worst d-range of all ..when shooting raw the d-range is awesome on the NEX. the raw from the NEX is essentially allready an HDR image

It’s due to larger sensor of the Sony NEX-5 which is APS-C sized and provides more details and better performance comparing to the sensor of the Pana G3 which has a four-third sized sensor.
