The RX100 is the Compact Camera of the Year 2012 at Photographyblog.

This isn’t really a surprise…The RX100 is the Compact Camera of the Year 2012 at Photographyblog. And I guess quite many here on SAR bought that little jewel. One more thing: In these days I also got a weird rumors from an unknown source saying that Sony would launch a new RX100 model. Let me know if you got something about it.
That said the cheapest price I found in US is at BigValue (Click here) and as super kit for $648 at Amazon (Click here). And to noble your RX100 you may look at the Italian Leather Gariz case.

5 months ago |Yes, that is what I would like to see too. A VF, and an integrated, sharp zoom 18-50 or 18-70. I would plunk down $1000. for that (and I already own and love an NEX-7)
Sony is doing a great job, I think. My only quibble with my NEX-7 is the menu system. The peaking level really should be programmable to one of the buttons, and the menu button should be at the bottom, not the top. Otherwise, very good.

5 months ago |Although the RX100VF would make the most sense from the not-having-to-design-a-new-lens and not-having-to-design-a-new-sensor and not-overlapping-and-potentially-cannibalizing-the-NEX point of views, the problem as I see it is cost. Integrating an EVF (assuming the same XGA OLED) into the RX100 would necessarily add $200-300 on top of the current price, just exceeding the Nikon V2 w/kit lens, and making it a much harder proposition for the general consumer (not us photogeeks) to swallow.

5 months ago |The latest fad in the business is filterless, AA-filterless more exactly. IF a new RX100 is in the making, it would most likely be without AA filter. And I would expect Sony to present new NEX models soon without AA filter as well. Just me taking a guess.

5 months ago |My guess is that the RX100 replacement will have PDAF on sensor. Not enough for me to upgrade.

5 months ago |I am very happy with mine so far. So any future model it will have to have:
1) shutter cable release option,
2) integrated filter thread,
3) EVF port

5 months ago |Very very happy with mine as well. Hardly used my NEX since I got the RX100. My wishlist for the next one:
1) Filter thread
2) Tiltable screen
3) Bit more wide and tele (although I guess that would be very hard to do)

5 months ago |I need a 24mm Zoom.
Tele is not important, but wide angle is.
Incessant Troll
5 months ago |i would pay considerably more for a slightly bigger body, weather sealing, and 24mm wide equiv. EVF optional.

5 months ago |what i would love for the new RX100, maybe something like 24-70 F1;8-F2.8, with something to put a flash.
I don’t care about the VF, cause it will make this lovely camera too big !!
they should bring t2 camera one with 24-70, and one other with 70-200
then, i sell my 5D mk iii for those tiny sexy camera
