Canon now officially confirms what I have been telling you for months: There is a worldwide shortage of parts!
You might remember that back in May I told you that there was a supply issue that delayed the launch of many cameras and some lenses across the industry. So now we have at leas one official confirmation via Canon:
Currently, we are experiencing delivery delays for the following products due to more orders than expected and also due to the impact of global parts supply. We apologize to our customers and business partners for the inconvenience. Products are scheduled to be shipped one after another, but it is expected that the new camera body EOS R5 Mark II will take a long time to ship. We apologize
again for keeping our eager customers waiting for such a long time. We will continue to take measures to ensure a stable product supply so that we can deliver the products as soon as possible. We appreciate your understanding.
That’s why the new Sony 85mm f/1.4 GM II was announced in late August and not in late June. Similar fate for the upcoming 24-70mm f/2.0 GM lens that could now be announced around October. It gets more complicated with cameras which might be announced in January-February instead of the previously scheduled October-November timeframe. More about that in my next posts and youtube videos ;)
ONE MORE THING: Trusted sources knew a new FX9 successor is long due….but maybe Sony once more delayed the launch for production issues reason?
