CIPA shows new signs of sales drop in the mirrorless segment

Click on the image above to see the full size  view of the latest CIPA August report. You will notice that  no also mirrorless system camera shipments are dropping. This is very worrisome as so far mirrorless has managed to keep steady (or slightly increasing) sales.

I  have little doubt that  overall sales in 2020 will  be even  worse in 2019. And honestly doon’t know what  you could do to change this trend :(

Patent discloses new Tamron 25mm, 40mm and 85mm f/2.0 lens design

There is a newly published patent disclosing the design of three new Tamron FE primes:

25mm f/2.0
40mm f/2.0
85mm f/2.0

I guess those are  just small variations from their newly announced f/2.8 prime lens line. Don’t think it makes sense to release those slightly faster lenses now. Would prefer to get f/1.8 or f/1.4 primes instead.

New Sony financial report released: -3,4% sales compared to last year Q2

Today Sony issued the new Q2 financial report. Compared to last years Q2 sales dropped by a small 3,5%. Also the  unit sales dropped but  that has to be expected as the camera as  a whole is focusing on high profit cameras/lenses and moving away from the low margin compact camera business:

The forecast for 2019 remains unchanged with a total of 3 million cameras sold compared to the 3,6 million of 2018.
