Adobe announces Lightroom CC and Lightroom Classic CC (and it’s the end for the standalone version)

Adobe just announced two version of Lightroom: Lightroom CC and Lightroom Classic C. The differences between the two are well explained at Imaging Resource, CameraJabber and ThePhoBlographer.

But the very annoying news is that there will be no standalone version of the new Lightroom CC. IR reports that Lightroom 6.13 will be released on October 26 with support for the Nikon D850 and no additional camera support will be added beyond 2017.

I am so pissed off by Adobes cloud strategy that I prefer to use Macphun (although I miss many of Adobes’ features set). UPDATE: Macphun is working on a new Lightroom alternative :)

Zeiss announced the new Milvus 1.4/25

Today zeiss announced the 25mm f/1.4 lens for Canon/Nikon mount only. But it can be used with adapter on any Sony E-mount camera. And this is amanual focusing lens only so you are not going to loose any benefit doing so anyway. This is the fastest wide angle lens from Zeiss. And it costs $2,399 at BHphoto. and 2399 Euro at Photo Porst Neuwied.

Optekas new E-mount lens launch delayed because of “tollerance” issues

Opteka recently announced five new manual focusing APS-C E-mount lenses with a similar (or the same) optical design of the current Meike E-mount lenses. But the launch just got delayed:

In order to overcome the mount variations between the A6000 and earlier, A6300, and A6500, the release date of Sony E-mount versions may be delayed. Either two mount versions of each lens will be made, or one version that splits the 1/100th of a millimeter difference between the mounts. The latter scenario will require testing to ensure that each lens remains within tolerance across the Sony E-Mount line. The former will delay the release of the Sony A6300/6500 version only.
Regardless, all of our new mirrorless lenses will come with a five year U.S. warranty.
