70-200mm GM lens hands on in Spanish by DSLRmagazine.

First 70-200mm f/2.8 FE GM lens hands-on by Matt Granger: surprisingly fast autofocus and more compact than expected

We know very little about the new 70-200mm FE GM lens. Today Matt Granger posted that short hands-on video directly from the CP+ Sony booth. He says:

  1. It’s not a huge amount bigger than the f/4.0 FE.
  2. Focus seems very very very fast. But not as fast as the Nikon 70-200mm (keep in mind this is a preproduction version)
  3. It handles well and the balance is not too bad.

He also shortly tested the new 24-70m FE GM lens:

And Techradar posted this: 10 things we never knew about (Sony) lenses.

Batis 25mm lens got DxOmarked. Says it is a “champion wide lens”!

Batis

DxOmark (Click here) posted their Batis 25mm f/2.0 lens test results. As you can see it beats the F-mount Zeiss Distagon 25mm lens by a single point but it’s not as super razor sharp as the new Loxia. DxO writes:

If you need a wider field of view, the Zeiss Loxia 2.8/21 offers improved sharpness of 27 P-Mpix compared to 22 P-Mpix for the Zeiss Batis 25mm f/2. The Batis is still outstandingly sharp, however, and offers a faster maximum aperture with better light transmission, as well as marginally better results for vignetting and chromatic aberration than the Loxia 2.8/21. All in all, the Zeiss Batis 25mm f/2 is a champion wide lens and that’s why it currently sits at the top in our database.

It’s still a challenge to find a Batis lens in Stock. There are a few ready to ship on [shoplink 45273 ebay]eBay (click here)[/shoplink]. But most stores do not have them in Stock now:
Zeiss Batis 85mm f/1.8 lens in US at Adorama, Bhphoto. In Eu at Amazon DE, WexUK. In Asia at Digitalrev.
Zeiss Batis 25mm f/2.0 lens at Adorama, Bhphoto. In EU at Amazon DE, WexUK. In Asia at Digitalrev.

SLR Magic ANAMORPHOT-CINE 1.33x PL lens

https://vimeo.com/156140561

Newsshooter tested the new SLR Magic ANAMORPHOT-CINE 1.33x PL lens on the Sony A7rII (see video above):

The 35mm lens did exhibit fairly pronounced distortion at the edges of the frame – something common in other anamorphic lenses too. Overall sharpness was very good indeed and chromatic aberration seemed well controlled. These lenses are certainly a step up from those used in most anamorphic adapter footage you see online.

Furthermore SLR Magic announced they improved the production version of these lenses. Here is their press text:

Hong Kong, China (Feb 22th, 2016) – SLR Magic is proud to announce the SLR Magic ANAMORPHOT-CINE 1.33x PL lens set for filmmakers which could be adapted to EF/F/mFT/E-mount via adapter. The production version has changed significantly in both optical and mechanical specification compared to the lenses shown at IBC 2015. For absolute precision, the lenses could now be calibrated by a lens technician from abroad rather than having both the camera and lenses to be calibrated in Hong Kong.

Please enjoy our short film, “FEEL”, taken by our volunteers with the new 1.33x SLR Magic Anamorphot-CINE lenses power driven by the Movcam Wireless Focus System on the Panasonic GH4 and Sony A7s recorded with the Atomos Ninja Assasin 4K recorder/monitor.
