All details we know so far about the new FE lenses coming in February…

Sony Full-Frame lens roadmap 2015 90mm macro – 24-240mm all-round – 35mm Zeiss and 28mm G lens

The next four FE lenses that will hit the market in early 2015 have been displayed at the Sony Photokina booth. And this is now all we know about the lens details:

Zeiss 35mm f/1.4:
Has no OSS (but you really don’t need that on fast wide angle lenses unless you shoot video with it)
Has finally an perture ring with 1/3 stop markings
likely also a clickless option (to select on lens)
It’s a big but not to big lens. Get the Loxia 35mm f/2.0 if you want something compact.
Has newly developed responsive actuator
to ship in March 2015
non-reliable pricing info: 1399 Euro

Sony 28mm f/2.0 G:
comes along dedicated converter range (16mm Fisheye and 21mm)
to ship in February 2015
non-reliable pricing info: 499 Euro (both converters should cost 229 Euro each)

90mm f/2.8 G OSS macro
90mm macro hands-on pics
you can turn off OSS with a dedicated on lens button
focus limit switch and focus hold button on the lens.
AF/MF clutch
to ship in March 2015
non-reliable pricing info: 999 Euro

24-240mm f/3.5-6.3 OSS
24-240mm hands-on pics

(SR2) Wild rumor: H.265 coming to the A7s to allow internal 4K recording?

A7S

A visitor of the CES show shared me the following info:

Speaking to Sony rep at CES, he indicated H.265 may be coming to A7x platform. In theory, this could allow A7S to output 4K (H.265) to the SD card due to the lower bitrate possibility. Would eliminate the requirement for external HDMI recorder for 4K, as long as you are OK with the H.265 compression.

The Samsung NX1 uses the H.265 codec for 4K recording. But I really don’t know if Sony will do this. There may be overheating issue when recording 4K on the A7s. But if Sony would find a way to add internal 4K recording I would certainly be happy!

Let’s ask our readers:

Will you buy the 35-150mm lens if it's priced at 1799 Euro/Dollars?

(SR3) Sony A7000 first APS-C E-mount camera with on sensor stabilization

A year ago Sony Europe site showed that image of an E-mount APS-C camera with integrated on sensor stabilization. Sony quickly removed the image as it was a fault from their designer team. Well, that “mistake” will soon become a real thing if the rumor I got is correct: The new High End APS-C E-mount camera that will feature the 5 axis on sensor stabilization used by the A7II. I am yet not 100% sure the camera will be named A7000 but what matters is that the source said it’s placed above the current A6000.

Release date is yet not confirmed but we should get it in shop by mid 2015.

New Rokinon teaser for the new 135mm (A and E-mount) lens.

Rokinon/Samyang posted a new teaser for their new tele prime lens. You also see the blurred lens on the background. It’s likely to be a new 135mm f/1.8 (or f/1.4?) lens and knowing the company history we can expect to get an A and an E-mount version of that lens. Finally a “cheaper” version of our Zeiss 135mm f/1.8 lens!

The lens should be announced before the CP+ show that starts on February 12.

(SR2) First rumor about a super cheap FF E-mount camera. Costs 799 Euro with lens?

Low rated SR2 rumors should always taken with a grain of salt. They are sent to me by new anonymous sources and very often are not correct. But sometimes unlikely rumors happen to be true and the following rumor at least has some small real chance to become true. The source told me:

super cheap full frame beginner mirrorless is coming! 799 us for the kit.

Well, it may or may not be true but Sony really patented such a compact and cheaper FF camera design back in October 2013 (SAR article here). And a highly trusted source told me that Sony has such a prototype in their labs for real!

Those of you arguing that such a price is impossible well…the A7 sells for [shoplink 32326 ebay]1.050 Euro on eBay (Click here)[/shoplink]. Now imagine a more compact camera without EVF…799 is really not that impossible!

So let’s take the chance to let Sony know if SAR reader would like to get such a camera:

Would you consider to buy a Tamron 17-35mm f/2.0-2.8 FE lens?

(SR5) First image leak of the new Sony 4K actioncamera.

Bildschirmfoto 2015-01-05 um 13.22.02

Dvinfo found images of the new Sony stuff. This is the first image of the Sony 4K Actioncamera. The $500 X100V is a 4K actioncamera with image stabilization which will be in Store by February. It costs $100 more than the GoPRO4 but unlike the GoPro the Sony comes with on lens stabilization. Keep in mind that the GoPRO Hero4 is the most sold overall(!) camera at Amazon US (ranking here). Let’s see if Sony can succeed to dethrone that hotseller!

There is also a new AX33 4K camcorder that will go on sale for $1,100 AX33 in February.

No E or E-mount stuff will be announced today. But we will not have to wait a long time. Only 4 weeks until the next Sony press announcement before CP+ ;)

Thanks Cliff!
