(FT3) SonyAlphaRumors 2010 predictions…

And now it is time for the SonyAlphaRumors 2010 predictions! What do we expect from Sony for the next year?

The Sony Mirrorless camera
It will come with no surprise that Sony will release a new mirorrless compact camera system with interchangeable lenses. Our bet is that it will have a new proprietary mount (and you will be able to use the current Alpha-lenses via adapter). The APS-C sensor will fit inside a compact model very similar in size to the Panasonic GF1. Such a camera could be announced in March 2010. Some of us were dreaming of a new Fullframe Digital Zeiss Ikon but I expect Sony to announce such a camera in 2011. On Photokina Sony could unveil the official Panasonic GH1 competitor. A camera which will easily outperform the current GH1 video quality!

Sony Alpha line
New Low-End model will be introduced in Q1. This camera will not have video features. I expect the A700 successor to be the first camera with video (and with a really decent video quality). When will the A7xx be announced? We know Sony has already a working models of such a camera but our very latest information suggests a release in Q1-Q2. Of course the A900 will see a new successor. It will become the first Fullframe camera to break the 30MP barrier! And you shouldn’t expect such a camera to be able to record videos.

Sony-Zeiss lenses
It should become a very interesting year for the lenses. The 500mm Lens could be unveiled in the first half of 2010 and also some primes like the 35mm and 24mm lens. With the introduction of new mirrorless cameras and cameras with video recording you will also see the introduction of completely new designed lenses!

The others
Thom Hogan wrote his prediction for Nikon.

This are just predictions mixed with some rumors we have from our sources. But we would like to see that “roadmap” become true! We definitely expect an amazing new year for Sony Alpha users!

(SR2) Sony camera roadmap by Gustav :)

We just found this post inside the dpreview forum:
Gustav (Kingfisher on Photoclubalpha, ijsvogel on Dyxun), from the Netherlands) has long impressed me with his astute and well-informed predictions about future Alpha cameras….he is in contact with fairly high-ranking Sony Alpha European officials, so when he makes predictions he speaks with some level of authority. He was largely on the money with regard to the A550, for example.

And “Gustav” made following predictions:

A450
Sony will introduce an A450 and many p&s cameras at CES.

The A700 successor
Sony will then introduce the “amazing” A7xx in May–reserving the 700 level, as Minolta did, for ground-breaking technology.

Lenses
Sprinkled throughout the year, Sony will introduce as many as ten new lenses, including several that will help to position some of the new Alphas as excellent journalist, sports, action, wildlife cameras, and several to help fill out other gaps. Some of them will be optimized for video.

About us…

Our website is very young, we are only 3 months old. It is time you learn something about us!

First, we decided to make this project because of three reasons:

1) We missed a place where we can read daily news, rumors and reviews about Sony Alpha cameras.

2) We have very good Sony rumor sources (and time will proove it)

3) We believe that in 2010 Sony will launch awesome new products.

We have many ideas on how to improve our website. Right now we are working on it.

Our goals are:

– To make it easy for you (and why not…for us) to get access to all most important news through this website!

– To improve the quality of our rumors

– To learn from your suggestions and critics and improve the website from day to day.

How can you help us? Send us all the interesting news you find around the web. You can use the form on the right sidebar or write us directly at sonyalpharumors@gmail.com. If you want to send a rumor use the form to keep you anonymously (or use a fake gmail account).

We really want to make a big step forward with our website. And we hope you will enjoy it ;)

(SR3) Future Sony Alpha 3D?

Letsgodigital bets with an introduction of new Alpha 3D cameras in 2010:

How the 3D technology will be integrated is not completely clear yet, but what is clear is that the next series Sony Alpha DSLR cameras will support 3D. Sony Alpha 3D, a new step in the direction of 3D DSLR photography?

(SR4) New Sony “foveon similar” sensor tecnology?

sony_sensor

Patent application 20090303371 shows a new Sony CMOS sensor based on the Sigmas Foveon tecnology. That means that each pixel can capture RGB colors.

“Accordingly, in order to utilize the incident light amount efficiently as well as to prevent occurrence of false colors, a method of separating colors by forming plural photodiodes in a pixel in the depth direction of a substrate has been developed.”
