(SR4) 90mm macro G FE almost sure to come. Follow announcement live on Monday on SAR!

On Monday (Sept 15) at 16:00 Berlin time Sony will finally announced the new A and E-mount lenses. Among them we will have the new 16-35mm f/4.0 FE Zeiss, the 90mm G FE macro, and likely an updated 35mm f/1.4 and 70-300mm A-mount lens. As you see on the official roadmap image on top there should be also a fast prime lens from Sony but I am not sure it will be available within 2014. Anyway, this could be the fast 85mm lens. Sony may also shows us an updated FE roadmap with some general info about the lens to come in 2015.

There could be also new accessories and one of them should be the new flash for the A7 camera series. And like I told you before we have no info about any other new camera that could be announced on Monday. But I hope Sony will officially tease us about the next very BIG camera announcement coming in January!

So follow the event live here on SAR on Monday Sept 15 at 16:00 Berlin time. That’s:
7am in San Francisco
10 am in NYC
15:00 in London
23:00 in Tokyo.

But they mat announce all other E-mount lenses too: The 16-35mm f/4.0 Zeiss, the 90mm macro and likely show an updated roadmap with 85mm fast prime lens included.

(SR5) No other new camera from Sony at Photokina! (SR5) New generation sensor and camera(s) release in January!

About two months ago I got hints that Sony would not announce any new camera at Photokina (with the exception of the 4K E-mount camcorder coming on Friday). But I really hoped that my sources would be wrong and that Sony simply kept the new camera(s) hidden in secret. But my sources are good and my hope proved to be misplaced. I am now 100% sure there will be no other new camera after the recent A5100 and QX1 launch and the soon to be announced 4K E-mount camcorder. To be honest it’s not like the competition is doing any better. Companies like Canon/Nikon/Fuji/Olympus will only unveil camera reiterations and no real innovative stuff.

Here are in detail the info I got from highly trusted sources:
1) No new A or E-mount camera at Photokina. There will be new A and E-mount lenses only.
2) Sony “revised” the strategy for late 2014. They decided to avoid the release of small upgraded cameras (A99II?).
3) Sony’s goal is to focus on strong impact releases. Products with “WOW” factor.

And now the big 100% reliable rumor:

(SR5) Sony is preparing a BIG event in January! They will release a complete new generation of cameras with a new generation sensor. Cameras have those two features:
1) Very high resolution and dynamic range. One of them is a 46 megapixel FF sensor.
2) Very fast AF speed

I know it’s strange they did not announce those at Photokina. But that it is. I Thank All trusted sources for the info they shared the last couple of weeks. I hope you sources can help me to feed SAR readers with some reliable rumor about the next generation cameras coming in January!

A couple of notes: January announcement is 100% correct as it really got confirmed by highly trusted sources. So trust me on this :)

(SR5) Big Sony camera announcement 3-4 months AFTER Photokina. New high resolution sensor cameras coming!

I posted many QX and lens rumors lately and little about cameras. The reason why I did so is because the last weeks I got plenty of “unexpected” rumors from sources saying that Sony is literally “skipping” Photokina and planning to release their big A and E-mount cameras some time AFTER Photokina.

The last weeks plenty of sources shared more and more hints about that “big” event. And now I can finally tell you with 100% reliability that this is exactly what’s going to happen. Sony will announce “minor” stuff at Photokina like the QX, new A and E-mount lenses, E-mount 4K and maybe maybe a new A99II and RX camera…but I am not sure about that yet.

What is really hot is that Sony decided to release the big stuff 3-4 months after Photkina. I am now working to get details about those new cameras. I am sure there is a brand new sensor in use in those cameras capable of shooting in very high resolution!

But before that I hope that Sony will at least launch the A99II at Photokina….
