Our long time sources confirmed Sony will launch the new 1/2.3 inch curved(!) sensor soon. It will be featured inside the new Sony KW1 compact camera and also inside that strange lady-friendly selfie camera you see on top (leaked via Scweeny).

Here are the specs of the KW1.

– Sensor 1 / 2.3-inch Exmor RS. The number of pixels 19.2 million effective pixels
– Comes with two conversion lenses: they will be 1-3.5x and 3-10x zoom
– Optical image stabilization
– ND filter built-in
– Monitor 3 inches 1.23 million dots
– The shutter speed -1/8000 seconds 2 seconds
– Camera application corresponding
– MicroSD / SDHC / SDXC
– Wi-Fi, NFC
– The size is 57.7mm x 125mm x 20.1mm
– 120 g Weight (body only). (Including media and battery) 136 g

In these days I had some “precious” talk with long time trusted sources. While they cannot unveil me specific info (for security reasons) they gave me some insight on Sony’s strategy:

First: This year Photokina will not be that exciting. It means that no real bigger stuff is coming from any company.

Second: Sony’s focus at Photokina will be on lenses more than on cameras (which by the way I think it’s good news as this is what we miss most now).

Third: Major innovative products will be launched in early 2015.

Fourth (the good surprise): One major good news will come soon for Full Frame E-mount. They said “you will love it”.

Like I told you days ago there will be many multiple and separate announcements from Sony. The next one will be very soon and Sony will unveil quite a strange camera. The new KW1.

It’s a compact camera with tiny 1/2.3 inch Exmor RS sensor and a 23mm f/2.0 lens. Quite unusual for a small sensor camera like that to have a prime lens. Makes me wonder if the real special thing of that camera may be a sort of curved sensor…but this is just speculation from my side. Here are the likely real specs of the camera:

LIke I told you before this is a A6000 camera without EVF and for less $$$. I think it’s a very advanced nice little camera!

Back in May I reported how Sigma would announce a new 24mm f/1.4 ART lens at Photokina and a 85mm f/1.4 ART lens in 2015. As you knwo Sigma already launched the 50mm A-mount lens can be preordered in USA Amazon (Click here) at BHphoto (Click here) and Adorama (Click here). In Europe at WexUK (Click here) and WexDe (Click here).

Well Photorumors got some tidbits about the next Sigma announcement. The 24mm f/1.4 lens will cost $1,099 and the 14-24mm f/4.0 will cost $1,199. The latter will have a 82mm filter.
Those are really two exciting lenses and I hope this time Sigma will not let us wait a year before these will be available in their A-mount version :(

There will be definitely multiple Sony announcements the coming weeks:

– On August 19 will announce the new A5100 E-mount camera
– On September 3 Sony will announce the new QX30 (30x zoom lenscamera)
– The “heavy stuff” will be announced right before Photokina. This will likely include the new RX and A-mount cameras and the many(!) new E and A-mount lenses.
