(SR3) Sony will announce plenty of new A and E-mount lenses at Photokina.

An anonymous source told me that Sony is about to announce a whole bunch of new A and E-mount lenses for the Photokina show in September. But he also pointed out that most of these lenses will be native E-mounts.

In the past months I posted some lens info like the 16-35mm f/4,0 FE Zeiss, 24-105mm A-mount, the fast FE prime, the four (or five) manual focusing FE Zeiss and so on. I hope to have a SR5 confirmed list of the new lenses soon.

I thank the source for sharing the info and I hope he can spill out some camera info too ;)

Rumor about something else: iPhone 6 will feature new Sony’s Exmor IMX220 camera sensor.

Image of the EXmor IMX220 sensor. Source: Alibaba.

Sony is the worldwide leader of the camera sensor market and therefore it will not be a surprise if the upcoming new iPhone 6 will use that brand new Sony sensor: a 13 Megapixel 1/2.3″ exmor sensor which is considerably larger than the iPhone 5s Sony 8 Megapixel 1/3.2” sensor.

Just a hint in the very deep future: Every week I do check Sony patents and I found many of “lytro alike” patents for different sensor size (latest patent can be read here). I am pretty sure one day an iPhone will use such a sensor!

(SR5) New QX30 coming soon!

Screenshot of the new Sony camera registrations in Korea.

Last month a source told me that Sony will soon release a new “QX camera model featuring an impressive 30x zoom” (article here). Well, it seems like our source was correct! The Korean agency RRA just registered the new QX30 camera. There is also a new A5100 which we reported to be registered at the Indonesian agency a couple of weeks ago.

(SR4) First curved sensor for the Xperia Z3X and the New RX FF (on market in 2015).

The pattern is now pretty clear and these are the first devices that will almost certainly feature the new Sony curved sensor tech:

1) The 2/3 inch 22 Megpaixel curved sensor with f/1.2 lens will be used by the next Xperia Z3X. The images of the camera have been leaked by Digi-wo.com.

2) The Full Frame RX (RX2?) will feature a Full Frame curved sensor and a very compact 35mm f/1.8 Zeiss lens. it will become the most compact Full Frame ever made.

Both will hit the market in early 2015!

(SR2) Is the registered camera the new entry level FF E-mount?

Last week I reported about the registration of a new Sony System Camera at the Indonesian agency Postel. The camera is registered with the code “WW024382” which usually defines a Full Frame camera.

An anonymous source said that this is the cheap entry level FF E-mount camera.

I am yet not sure about the rumor but like I told you before Sony indeed published a patent describing such a camera. And here is the official design:

Let’s hope the new source is right but for now keep your feet on solid ground!

(SR4) First specs of the curved sensor 2/3 inch sensor camera (or smartphone) with f/1.2 lens!

A couple of weeks I told you how Sony developed a 2/3 inch and a Full Frame curved sensor. Both are ready for production. We now got our hands on the specs of the 2/3 inch sensor camera (or smartphone) that Sony will launch soon at Photokina. It will be the worlds first curved sensor camera/smartphone!
The 22 Megapixel curved sensor has a dynamic range of 10.8 stop at ISO 640, SNR of 41.1DB at ISO 400 and the astonishing 7.83mm lens f/1.2 G lens is only 6mm thick! This could be the smallest and highest quality compact camera ever made. The 2/3 inch curved sensor has the same signal to ratio of the Canon 5dMarkIII !!!
The chances stay very high that Sony will also launch a Full Frame curved sensor camera with a damn compact Zeiss 35mm f/1.8 lens. Will this be the first Full Frame camera that fits in your pocket???
Here are the lens specs of the 2/3 inch camera:

P.s.: I am not sure the equivalent calc of the rable is right…

(SR2) New 400mm f/4.0 lens to come later this year.

Image on top: The current 500mm f/4.0 G lens.

A new source told me that Sony plans to launch a new 400mm f/4.0 A-mount lens by end of this year. No info about pricing and lens design yet!

Oh and please Sony. Make it be a tiny bit cheaper than the $13,000 500mm f/4.0 G lens :)
