(SR5) Mark Weir from Sony confirms new FE lenses and “unique” cameras will be announced soon! And very fast FE lenses will come too!

As I told you many times in these weeks Sony has a big announcement in early May. There will be definitely a new A77 successor but I was confident Sony would announce more stuff. And well, Mark Weir from Sony just confirmed new FE lenses will be announced “very soon”. And I think some A-mount lenses will come too. But that’s still not SR5 confirmed yet. Mark also says some “unique cameras will come too! These are some key info he shares on the BH video posted on top:

38:00 min Mark confirms Sony will launch very fast FE lenses.
39:40 min Mark confirms we won’t have long to wait to see the new lenses! And he said the people who makes Sony suggestions about lenses will be very happy :)
47:30 min Mark answers about the light leak issue
54:50 min Mark says Sony wants to make cameras that have been never made before. And you will see more of that shortly!
1:14:00 min Mark says they will be releasing more “Servo-based” zoom lenses.

This means I have now seriously go back to work and contact all sources to try to get some SR5 rumors! And you readers may help me to keep an eye on forums and sites to see if we can catch some info about the next Sony announcement! This is going to be an exciting time once again here on SAR!

(SR5 updated) Correction: Samyang will launch a fast 35mm Full Frame lens for Canon (and for Sony coming later). 10mm coming too.

Image found by CanonWatch.

UPDATED: DicaHub (translated) clarified the rumors and said while they are sure there will be a fast 35mm lens they still don’t know if it’s an autofocus lens. The lens will be announced tomorrow morning (March 21). They will unveil a Canon mount version with a Nikon and Sony versions likely to follow later during the year. One more thing: I read on other rumor sites that this could be a f/1.2 fast 35mm lens!

There will be also a new Samyang 10mm f/2.8 ED AS NCS CS (manual focusing) lens and the picture can be seen here:

I still don’t know if the 35mm autofocus lens will come for both A and E-mounts!

P.S.: Currently Samyang sells their lenses under different brands:

(SR5) Samyang announcement on March 21. Likely first AF lenses to come!

Samyang launched that teaser image on their Facebook page. A couple of weeks ago I told you that Samyang is ready to launch their first autofocus lenses. And this is likely what athey will announce now! It will be exciting news for Sony too because Samyang is currently the only third party lenses offering APS-C and Full Frame lenses for the A and E-mount cameras (including FE lenses for the new A7-A7r series).

P.S.: Currently Samyang sells their lenses under different brands:

(SR5) The Sony 2014 rumored camera and lens timeline roundup (A77 successor, FE high end camera and lenses, RX and 4K).

The Sony roadmap that hinted a new A-mount camera release. A camera positioned between the A77 and A99.

I don’t want you to get lost on rumors so here is a roundup of SR5 rumors only. This is what you can expect in 2014:

1) Sony A77 successor. The camera will be announced in early May and is supposed to have a terrific AF speed. It will hit the stores in June.
2) New FE lenses. Three new Sony FE lenses will come in 2014. If we are “lucky” two of them will be announced along the A77 announcement.
3) New Full Frame E-mount camera(s). Definitely to come right before Photokina. And they will not be a direct replacement of the A7-A7r cameras.
4) New 4k photocamera. There is definitely at least one 4K capable camera to come. No 100% reliable specs yet. Coming end of summer.
5) New RX cameras. One new Full Frame and probably new RX100 cameras to come too. No exact announcement date yet (but RX FF likely at Photokina).
6) New manual focusing Zeiss FE lenses. Definitely to be announced at Photokina. Likely “based” on the great [shoplink 25191 ebay]Zeiss ZM (here on eBay) series[/shoplink].

Still to be confirmed as SR5: A-mount Full Frame. I still didn’t manage to get 99% reliable info about it.
