Robert:My name is Bob and I work at a photographic store in New York city. Everyday customers come into the store to try out cameras and most of the time they end up taking photos of me. I’ve started to assemble a collection of those photos and post them online. Recently a prototype of the Hasselblad H5D-50C was brought in for the medium format department to preview. A photo from that camera is the newest addition to my collection.

I included 12 photos samples (with Exif Data) and 5 video samples. I made as well a test of the famous shutter sound in 7 different environment with different levels of noise.

Sony announces ProRes and DNxHD support for F5 & F55. 4K photocamera coming later this year!

The same source that told us the 4K camera would not come in April but much later this year also told us that Sony would give a ProRes update for the F5 & F55. Well, Sony just announced ProRes and DNxHD support for F5 & F55 camera. This means the source is likely also right on the 4K photocamera coming later this year :)

This is the official Press Text from Sony:

Sony has been at the forefront of, and has vast experience in developing advanced compression technologies that led to the visually lossless HDCAM SR, a standard in the production industry since 2001.
Based on our knowledge and experience in this area we then selected the highest Level and Profile of the H.264 standard as the core compression technology for the F5, and F55 cameras. Named XAVC, it offers exceptionally high quality, with the ability to scale from HD, 2K to 4K with very modest data rates, and with frame rates up to 180fps.
XAVC has proven robust, and is well accepted by “mission critical” genres such as Episodic Television, Documentary and feature film. The adoption of XAVC by commonly used platforms has been exceptionally fast, and as a result XAVC is supported by all major workflow applications in the fields of editing, grading, transcoding and media management.
Sony is firmly committed to the continued advancement of the XAVC codec with exciting developments planned for the future. Sony is also committed to our customers and with your feedback the need for diversity and flexibility to support codecs that have been used in our industry for some time.
Our mission is to continue developing the most feature rich cameras on the market. In so doing we are excited to announce support for ProRes and DNxHD codecs as a future hardware upgrade option for both the F5, and F55 cameras.

Stay tuned for more information!

(SR5) New Full Frame E-mount cameras to be launched within the next 5-6 months (likely at Photokina).

I can confirm via multiple trusted sources that Sony will launch new Full Frame E-mount cameras within the next 5-6 months. I guess it means they will be launched right before the Photokina September show. NONE(!) of them will be a replacement of the current A7 and A7r models. All we know for sure about these new models is that they will have an advanced hybrid AF system similar to what we got inside the newly announced Sony A6000.

The surprises: I can already tell you that there will be many more cameras in the months to come (RX and Alpha and E-mount). I am working on those rumors right now….be patient ;)

Sony clearly says A6000 replaces the NEX-7 too.

I still get mails from readers asking when the NEX-7 successor (aka A7000) will be announced. As I wrote many times on SAR I know from trusted sources the A6000 replaces both, the NEX-6 and NEX-7. Well for disbelievers here is an image of an official Sony presentation showing clearly how the A6000 replaces the NEX-7 too. Thanks Corto for sharing the pic!

The future of TriNavi: One source told me TriNavi navigation is certainly not coming back in any future APS-C E-mount camera. And as far as he knows not even in any Full Frame E-mount camera.

Small rumor bits about the A77 successor.

Two anonymous sources sent me small bits of A77 successor info:

– (SR4) Announcement will be made the first week of May (and availability in June!)
– (SR3) Camera can do 14 fps.

I am still not sure yet if Sony will also use new RX cameras and new A/E mount lenses. Hope to get SR5 confirmations soon!

(SR5) A77II announcement in May!!!

Image on top shows the silhoutte of the current Sony A77.

Many(!) trusted source just told me the A77II announcement is actually scheduled for May. They didn’t share any specs yet. All we know is that it has a very fast new autofocus system, no EVF lag and very speedy processor.
I also have been told that the announcement event is quite “big”. There is a fair chance Sony will also announce some other stuff like new lenses for both A and E-mount! Hopefully new FE lenses will be announced too :)
Stay tuned on SAR, I am working on plenty(!) of amazing rumors. Some of time are a huge surprise ;)

The Sigma 50mm f/1.4 ART lens should be shipping in May.

The new Sigma 50mm ART lens is supposed to give a very close Zeiss Otus performance. But we still don’t know yet what the price will be. But according to Photorumors we can expect Sigma to ship the lens in May. This is what Sigma stuff present at the Photography show in NEC (Birmingham) told to a Photorumors readers.

Sigma already confirmed the lens will come in A-mount too (article here). And a first quality comparison with other 50mm lenses has been posted last week (article here).
