(SR4) Sony 4K camera rumor correction: Not coming at NAB show but at Photokina?

One source shared a surprising rumor (and correction) on the 4K camera rumor we posted three days ago. He says the camera displayed last year (image on top) will NOT(!) be announced as final production camera at the NAB show in April. Apparently Sony will wait a couple of months more before to launch any 4K in a DSLR looking package. He confirmed that Sony will definitely launch 4K (photocamera styled) cameras but for reasons he couldn’t mention Sony will not be able to launch them in April!

One more thing: He said that Sony will lbirng a couple of “minor” news at the NAB show event in April: evolutionary improvements like  S-Log3, ACES color space and firmware upgrades to Cinealta. There will be a new camcorder too but definitely no 4K DSLR styled camera yet.

Important: A77 successor is confirmed by many many trusted and anonymous sources. Launch within the next 2-3 months!

(UPDATED: SR2) 4K FF camera NOT(!) coming at NAB in April.

Well, as I told you yesterday the A77II A-mount camera is scheduled for a late Spring announcement. UPDATED: sources shared new information about the Sony 4K camera displayed last year at the NAB show (see picture on top). Well that camera could NOT be announced at the coming NAB show. Seems like we have to wait much longer to get a camera like this :(

(SR5) name of the A77 successor is “A77II”. In Store this Summer.

Image on top shows the silhoutte of the current Sony A77.

The following rumor has been shared by trusted sources:

The next A-mount camera to be released by Sony is the new “A77II”. Announcement in late Spring and in Store this Summer. The new A77II is trimmed for speed and that will be also the main selling point of this camera. The AF will be even faster than the world’s fastest AF camera that has been just released by Sony, the A6000. I am working as good as I can to get the camera specs but the chances are also very high that this will use a much improved SLT tech. Cannot confirm yet if the mirror can be locked up like we saw on a 2013 Sony patent.

Anyway, the important thing we know now is that after over one year of no A-mount camera announcement (last was the A58 in February) we will finally get a new A-mount camera! And trust me, more will come soon after the A77 successor announcement ;)

Special note to sources: In these weeks I am getting lot of info from anonymous sources too. I wanted to thank them all and as usual I ask them to be patient. I always try to double or triple check rumors before to post them on SAR. Sometimes this takes weeks. Thanks!

(SR5) Don’t worry, new RX FF is in the works! Release at Photokina.

LLoyd Chambers over at Diglloyd wrote:

where is the Sony RX2R model sporting that nifty 36 megapixel sensor? And where is an RX2R model with an 18mm and 24mm and 75mm lens? Or at least one of those options? The design concept is terrific; it has legs and I’d like to see it move forward. But nary a word from Sony, which is a pity given the appeal of the RX1R.

I can give him a quick answer: “Don’t worry, new RX FF is in the works”. It should be announced before Photokina in September. And I have been told it comes with a huge surprise (that’s all I know for now).

(SR2) Rumors posted by our reader Animalsbarry (A77 successor, Foveon, Z-shift and more).

Long time SAR reader AnimalsBarry claims to have gotten some reliable info from one of his “sources”. I had the chance to talk with him and I told him I would post the rumors with SR2 only because I don’t know if I can trust his source. That’s why you have to take it with a grain of salt. Here is what he writes:

A sony manager just actually called me to share this info so it is sr5
A79..will be 32mp
Ff cameras will be 24 and 36mp a mount
Hybrid camera will have z shift
Stacked sensor will probably be early to mid 2015 not late 2015
Ospdaf in future cameras will work with most 3rd party lenses including tamron and sigma..so high speed af will be available
This comes from a high level sony us manager and you can safely call this sr5
Big announcement in next couple of weeks..a lot of this info will be released then
Barry

Thanks AnimalsBarry!

SAR note: All I can say with an SR5 reliability is, yes there is an announcement scheduled in a couple of weeks (4K camera), and yes there will be an A77 successor (but I am not sure if it will come with the next announcement).

Exactly one year ago (+1 day) Sony announced the last A-mount camera!

[shoplink 24708 ebay]

[/shoplink]

Exaclty One Yeard and One day ago Sony announced the last A-mount camera, the [shoplink 24708 ebay]Sony A58[/shoplink]. I know some of you complained that I was bringing to many E-mount news but as you see, this happens only because Sony decided to focus on the E-mount and RX camera development.

But now the long wait has an end and my trusted sources confirmed new A-mount cameras will come very soon. I am not 100% sure yet but the first camera could be announced in late March or early April. What we also know for sure is that the new A-mount cameras will focus on speed. EVF refresh rate much improved, Hybrid AF even a tiny bit faster than the one used on the A6000, on sensor phase detection pixels and likely same A7 and A7r resolution sensor.

The big question is: Will they have SLT tech? I know Sony developed both, completely mirrorless and SLT A-mount cameras. Latest I heard is that it has SLT btu I am still not sure about it.

Stay tuned, some exciting time ahead of us! And finally some smiles for A-mount lovers :)
