Wild rumors roundup: A6700R and FX50

About those rumors: I have no idea who sent them and 90% of the times they turn out to be wrong. But, it happened in the past that a couple of those were right. So I will post them today, and we all together can eventually keep track of this. If one of the sources turns out to be right than we will know we can trust it a bit more!

Source 1:

A6700 R coming in 2024

Source 2:

New FX50 you mentioned, has the highest dynamic range of almost all Sony full frame sensors. it is 35mm.
Has : Autofocus, IBIS, electronic variable ND.
Same style of body like Canon C70 but slimmer and lighter.
Around 3000$ launch price.
Not FX 30 sensor.
Higher dynamic range at least 15.
Very cheap rival to Arri Alexa and C70.

Source 3:

2024 will be a video year with two major announcements. Even the lenses will be video oriented.
Tell the video people that they will be satisfied

Competition: Canon EOS R1 rumors downgraded from being “stunning” to “average”

It’s now a year we keep reading stunning rumors about the Canon R1 having global shutter, crazy high Megapixel sensors and other stunning features. A potential Sony A1 killer!

Well now according to latest rumors the camera will:

  • NOT have global shutter
  • NOT have 8K
  • Have a resolution below 45MP

This is not a “Schadensfreude” post. I would have loved the R1 to be competitive against the Sony A1 and future Sony A1II. And I know rumors can be wrong (like it happens to me rarely). But I found it rather bizarre how dramatic those rumored specs changed. But if the R1 will be an “average” good camera the real danger for Sony will remain the extremely good Nikon Z8/Z9 cameras…or the Panasonic S High Resolution camera that I KNOW is coming this year ;)

YES! Sony will announce the new 85mm GMII in Spring!

After exactly eight(!) years Sony will finally update the current 85mm f/1.4 GM. Two trusted sources told me this lens will be in Stock by early Summer. Which usually means announcement will happen 1-2 months earlier (Spring). They didn’t want me to share the specs of the lens but unconfirmed rumors do suggest this to be a new 85mm f/1.4 GM II. it will be optcially much improved and slightly more compact.

But there is a but…super wild rumors I got speculate about the possibility of a DOUBLE 85mm GM lens announcement with the second lens being faster than f/1.4! But this is NOT coming from my trusted sources so take it with a huge grain of salt for now!

To wrap it up:

  • CONFIRMED: New Sony 85mm GM coming in Spring (and in Stock by early summer)
  • Likely: Same f/1.4 aperture but optically improved and slightly smaller/lighter
  • Wild rumor: There might be a second and faster 85mm GM too

What do you think…shall I give you a great rumor from TRUSTED sources today? ;)

First important news:
The best part of my job is when I can give you very good rumors from trusted sources…It has something to do with this lens :)  So I am going to post this rumor today at 19:00 Berlin time (1pm New York City). I will post the youtube video about this rumor 15min earlier (so please subscribe).

Second important thing:
I am working to redo the website, cut ADS and try to focus more on content. This will be a long work and I can only do it now because the past 11 years I had to fight along a rare “pathology” that affected my son’s life.
I will share this story on my Youtube channel soon (subscribe to support my efforts and get exciting rumors).

Third important thing:
If you want to support my efforts consider using those affiliated links to buy your gear…like when you preorder the A9III: BHphoto. Amazon. Adorama. You will help me to cover the cost of the new design and coding of the website. I also do have a Amazon storefront with the best gear selected by me Thanks!
