Huawei will soon announce the new P20 smart phone. Why should we care about that news? Because the phone will have the world’s first triple-camera. And if this will become a general trend it will suddenly help Sony to increase the sensor business. Which means more investment in R&D and more benefits for the classic 1 inch, APS-C and FF sensor development.

Finally trusted sources confirmed that on February 26 Sony will announce:
– one new “mid level” Alpha camera
– one new Flash
Trsusted source have yet NOT confirmed if that’s a new A7III or A6700 camera. But I believe that this is the new A7III (70% chance).
(SR3) I give it 50% chance the new A7III has those specs:
24 mpx sensor.
7 fps.
425 contrast points.
167 phase detection.
joystick.
Z batterie.
touch screen.
4k recording 24 .25 and 30 fps.
1080p 24.25.30 and 60.fps.

X-H1 vs A6500 by camerasize
Today Fuji announced the new X-H1 (specs at BH). As usual with Fuji this looks like a well-rounded product which also comes with some special and newly announced Cine lenses. When compared with the A6500 the X-H1 is a more advanced video tool. But I think Sony hasn’t too much to be worried about. The Sony A7sIII is highly likely to be announced in early April and I bet it has 4k60p while the Fuji has 4k30p only.
What Sony should learn from todays’ Fuji announcement is that you really have to think about the full ecosystem: Translated…make proper lenses for the camera you make!
