Chris Turner and the switch from Nikon to the Sony A9

Share

We got plenty of new A9 tests to link too:

Chris Turner explains how the Sony A9 and my switch from Nikon:

The Sony A7RII started a new trend for me and the A9 has made it easier for me to concentrate on arguably the two most important things of Wedding Photography… Being creative and capturing natural emotion, I can sit in the background silently shooting away telling a story with my camera.
Addressing the banding and over-heating that some people have reported – I’m pleased to say I have not experienced either at all.

Emin:I’m testing today Sony A9 + Nikon 105mm f1.4 + TechArt adapter. all images from the Jpeg (not from the Raw files). I shoot on a slow SD card (Sandisk 64Gb Extreme pro 95mb/s) I use this camera about 3 hours on an open sun (non stop) without any heat issue (camera was cold). more images from today

Al:Hello, I shot this video on the RX100 mark v – it’s a pretty great demonstration of this small sensor’s low light capabilities. Thought you and your readers would enjoy this portrait of street food in Los Angeles: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YUNTevNySZg

Sony has registered two new cameras to be announced soon

Share

Sony has registered two new cameras:

  1. One camera has the code “WW620081”. That camera got already registered two months ago. The “WW6” code is usually used for RX cameras
  2. The second code is “WW173777”. That kind of code is used for compact fixed lens cameras (non-RX)

Usually it takes 2-3 months after registration to see the cameras officially announced. None of the two codes above should be for a new E-mount camera. The next E-mount camera is likely to be introduces much later (late 2017 or early 2018) and it should be the new A7III (24MP, 4K).

Astronomik has introduced many clip in filter options for Sony A7 bodies

Share

Astronomik released clip in filter options for the first generation of Sony A7 bodies. This is how the Astronomik CLS filter works:

The CLS blocks all unwanted artifical light pollution and natural airglow and gives you a dark background in your images. When using this filter you may expose much longer than without, so you will be able to pick much fainter structures and objects. The filter is designed in such a way that all objects are given in their natural colors. -They would look the same if your human eye would be much more sensitive!
The CLS is the fist choice for any applications like Night-scape photography and Time Lapse movies!

The CLS-CCD filyter has built-in IR-blocker.
