(SR3) Sony press event on April 23! New 8k camcorder coming?

Share

Sony will have a press announcement on April 23 at 3pm (Las Vegas time). A part of the rumored new E-mount lenses (and maybe a new E-mount camera) we may get something else too: The following rumor has been shared by a trusted source. But so far I wasn’t able to fully confirm it. He said there will be a new camcorder:

similar to f5 and f55 with 8k also global shutter

I really have a hard time to think the market is ready (or even needs) an 8k Camcorder by now. Or maybe what Sony is going to show is a prototype only?

Lucas:I’ve been to Northern Norway in mid January to capture some winter moments. I have used a Sony a7sii with Canon optics most of the time and an dji inspire 1 x5r.
The Sony performed very well at the weather conditions! Low temperature and snow or slight rain was no problem.

Trent:Got a chance to use the Tokina FiRIN 20mm f/2 for one week in Budapest, Hungary.  Since there do not appear to be many blogs with reviews on the new FiRIN (and it was only recently released), I was wondering if your readers would like to see some sample images, and my initial thoughts on the lens.
I am not a professional reviewer, but a long time (amateur) travel photographer who enjoys good glass.
In a nutshell, the lens was super sharp, and extremely compact.  Very minimal distortion for such a wide angle prime lens.  And, of course, the price is right.  Thank goodness a reputable company such as Tokina is now manufacturing quality 3rd party lenses.  My images are NOT corrected for distortion because, as of yet, there is no lens profile in Lightroom.
