Press text:

Don’t waste time pulling a lens out of your bag or swapping optics with the Lensbaby Trio 28mm f/3.5 Lens. This pancake-style lens incorporates a rotating front that holds Twist, Velvet, and Sweet optics for selecting different effects at a moment’s notice. The Twist uses a true Petzval design for a sharp center area surrounded by a swirl of twisty bokeh. Velvet has a dreamy central area with a soft focus look along with a soft glow. Sweet creates a sharp spot of focus in the center with a gradual fall-off to blur. And, all of these can be carried without stuffing your bag with a variety of miscellaneous equipment.

Available here for Fujifilm X-mount cameras, the Trio will provide a 42mm equivalent field of view that provides a normal perspective for working in a wide range of shooting conditions. Also, it has a fixed f/3.5 optic that ensures predictable looks in a variety of situations. All of the optics are multi-coated for minimal flare and ghosting and it has a manual focusing ring for focusing anywhere form 8″ to infinity. Additionally, users can attach filters using the front 46mm thread for even more creative control.

Works with APS-C cameras where the normal 42mm perspective that can be used to capture a variety of subjects, including street, portraits, landscapes, and more.
Fixed f/3.5 aperture helps create a predictable effect in a wide range of situations.

What Sony could announce at the next event…(High End E-mount, 16-35mm GM…)

Share

First: More trusted sources confirmed that Sony is going ot have an E-mount announcement within the next 7-8 weeks. So this is no more a rumor but almost a fact :)

As usual with Sony the exact announcement date is very secret. It is also yet unclear what they will announce but from trusted sources we know the new Sony High End E-mount camera and the 16-35mm f/2.8 GM lens are almost ready to be launched.

What else could be announced? We know the A5100 got discontinued but until now I didn’t hear any info about the A5300. There is also a rumor from Kakaku about a new STF FE lens. And of course there is the new A7 mark III. The impossible rumor is that there might be a A65000 with 5 axis stabilization.

While I am working to gather some reliable info let us know:

What are the new Sony products you woudl buy form the "rumored" list?

Sony 101 Megapixel sensor tested at dpreview and imaging resource: “It’s stunning and sensational”

Share

Image of the Sony 101MP sensor by Exclusivearchitecture

Sony conquered the medium format world with their new CMOS medium format sensor. The biggest sensor is the new 54x40mm 101 Megapixel sensor which is also a referred as to be a true Full Frame Medium format. Unlike the one used by the Hasselblad X1D and Fuji GFX which do use a smaller44x33mm sensor.

The new Sonys ensor has a 2.5 larger area than Full Frame. And the question is…does it really make a difference? Well both Dpreview and Imaging Resource posted a first review of the Phase One IQ3 back with the Sony 101MP sensor. And that’s what they say:

Dpreview writes the performance is “sensational”:

  • The amount of detail it can capture is astonishing, but what I appreciated more was the 3D quality that so many pixels dedicated to a tonal transition can create
  • One of the greatest elements of the back is the dynamic range though, which allows the deepest shadows and the brightest highlights to be recorded in a single frame and made visible (via tonemapping) in the fabulous Capture One software.
  • The need for neutral density graduated filters with this camera is greatly reduced, and it is actually quite difficult to get an exposure so wrong that a decent image can’t be produced: just like the days of color negative printing

Imaging Resource writes the performance is “stunning”:

  • Holy moly, this camera can capture some insanely detailed photographs! I could pretty much just stop there. The images are incredible.
  • I was able to recover tons of detail in the highlights, if I found myself with blown-out, overexposed areas. On the other end, I was also able to lift up the shadows to reveal lots of detail without introducing much noticeable noise.

It is interesting to note that both sites mention that handheld shooting is a challenge mainly caused by the big mirror movement. I can see the market for a mirrorless system camera with such a sensor. Why don’t you do it Sony? :)

(SR2) Two rumors from new sources: A9 and A6500 ???

Share

a6300

The following rumors have been sent to me via new sources and not via our trusted sources. So please take it with a big dose of caution. The reason I am posting them is that sometimes new sources are spot on. And I think it’s better to post a wrong rumor than miss a good one! But remember, don’t hold me accountable for those low ranked rumors:

Rumor 1:

α6500 with 5-axis image stabilization in October.
Please check with your trusted source.
α9 …hmmm maybe, maybe unveiling at CP+ 2017.
I’m sorry when I different.

Rumor 2:

I heard it from a person who have connection with sony.
SONY A9 20FPS 70MP
I don’t know A9 is one version which have 70MP with 20FPS, or there are two version 70MP version and 20FPS version.
In any case A9 is far out, he said.

Of course I would be veeeery surprised to hear Sony has already a new A6300 successor! The rumor is so strange that it almost looks to be true. Usually fake rumors sound…”real”. This one doesn’t sound like that…
