(SR4) UPDATED ->The Sony A-700 has been discontinued in Holland. The Alpha 800 is coming!

Share

One of our reader J.V from Holland just received the information from Sony Europe directly!

Here you have the original message in dutch:
From: SONED.NL.Contact@eu.sony.com

Subject: Re: Webform Enquiry from x(Case: 2519xxxx)

Geachte heer V.,

Sony Support

In short:

“True, the DSLR-A700 is no longer available. The DSLR-A700 will be replaced by the Alpha 8 series.”

(SR2) “the a700 successor will have video and AF with video/LV through main sensor.
It will be APS-C and not FF, its display will be a tilting LED and not a LCD and a good OVF.
” (Just speculation or does he really know the truth?)

* “MENU” button “setup menu” of “show version” and select the version you see.
* Details of how to determine the version is listed in the download page.
* “Ver.1.10” is not necessary if you have Okonatsu after this update.

* [Body] software changes
* [Metering mode] is [averaging metering center weighted or spot metering] If that is set to be fixed now as well as exposure and focus fit. (AF when shooting)

New Sony 1/2.3-inch 10.3Mpixel 50 frame/s Back-Illuminated CMOS Image Sensor

Share

ISSCC published the Advance 2010 Program which contains some interesting new sensor developments news:

1/2.3-inch 10.3Mpixel 50frame/s CMOS image sensor fabricated using a 0.13μm 1P4M CMOS process with back-illumination technology achieves sensitivity of 9890e-/lux·s, random noise of 1.7e- and saturation of 8850e-. The sensor integrates a 10b/12b analog-to-digital converter, an internal PLL and a 10b serial LVDS interface to enable a data-rate up to 576MHz.

I can imagine the sensor to find his use in future Sony camcorders.
