Kabir:Figured I’d share some of my A7- series work with you given I haven’t seen much underwater work on the blog. I specialize in filming underwater predators and have been pleased with what these little cameras can do! Amazing times…

Sony A7rII news: Camera for $2,699. And is it good enough for sports photography?

The grey imported (1 year US warranty) Sony A7rIi now sells for $2,699 on [shoplink 42156 ebay]eBay US (Click here)[/shoplink]. And Dpreview posted an article about the A7rII use for sports photography: “Keeping up with the big boys? Shooting pro sports with the Sony a7R II”. The answer is…not yet:

Would I rely on it for a second or third body at a sporting event with money and a client on the line? No, not yet – but I’m looking forward to the day that I would. And that day might not be far off. All things considered, pro-SLR autofocus technology draws from three decades of research, whereas the a7R II is still an infant in only its second-generation of existence. Not too shabby for a sophomore effort, Sony.

Reminder: OneCall is having some cool Sony Open Box offer. All items come with regular 1 year US Sony warranty:

(SR2) Sony A6100 and Sony A7000 with 28MP Exmor R sensor?

Share

nex_7_main_0

An anonymous source sent me this info about two future APS-C cameras. As this is a new source there is not a high chance the rumor is true. But it’s certainly an exciting news if the rumor turns out to be true! He wrote:

“A7000 and A61(5)00 testing. Exmor R 28 MP with 399PDAF”

I don’t know if it makes a lot of sense to have two cameras with the same sensors. Don’t know what the A7000 extra features will be to justify the camera existence…

Reminder:

Sony organized a special “Sony Surprise” event in Stockholm (Source: sthlm.fotomassan.se). It scheduled on Friday at 11:00 local time. For sure we will see a new A68 camera. And still unconfirmed is if Sony will also show the new E-mount lenses and cameras too!

Sony A68 specs:
SLT A-mount model (translucent mirror)
24 megapixel sensor
79 AF points
19 AF Cross points.
4D autofocus (seems to be the [shoplink 41697 ebay]same as the A77II[/shoplink])
LCD info display on top of the camera
Price around $600
Announcement in November

I have some good news for Sony A7II owners! You will get a firmware update on November 18! It adds uncompressed RAW and some other features described on the press release below:

Sony to Bring Uncompressed Raw to a7 II via Firmware Update; Follow B&H Photo Explora Blog for Updates

Photography News: Sony’s Latest Firmware Update Brings an Uncompressed Raw File Option to the a7 II, Along With Support for Phase-Detect AF With Adapted Lenses and Additional Customization Options

NEW YORK, NY–(Marketwired – November 03, 2015) – B&H Photo would like to share the announcement of a new firmware update for the Sony Alpha a7 II Mirrorless digital camera, which is scheduled for release on November 18. This update brings the uncompressed raw option — first seen in the a7S II and a7R II — to the a7 II, and provides users with the choice between smaller file sizes via compression or the retention of as much image data as possible for advanced raw file development. Along with this, the camera’s AF system sees a massive boost in performance with the 117-point on-sensor phase detection AF array now supporting adapted lenses, such as those from Sony’s A-mount line. This is similar to what we have already seen with the a7R II, and ensures fast, accurate autofocus performance with a vast variety of glass, making the move to mirrorless much easier. Additionally, Sony is adding more customization options to the camera, allowing movie recording to be assigned to a custom key.

DON’T buy the SONY a7rii until you watch this canon adapter review!!

Sony 90mm FE review at ThePhoBlographer.

Ted:I wanted to also send you my review of the a7rii (including 4K footage) and ask if you might consider posting it as well. Here’s the review: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sX_rM3w8rTw

Matt:a7s + FE 16-35 + Ronin-M + Deluts by James Miller. I used a custom Picture Profile rather than S-log2 so I can have an easier time focusing. https://vimeo.com/136473156

Emin:Today I  shoot video on Sony A7RII & 35mm Sony f1.4 & Sony 28mm f2) and then take a screen shoot from it https://www.facebook.com/emin.kuliyev.54/posts/10208236724700889?pnref=story

Anonymous:there is a test between the cheaper Fotodiox adapter and $400 Metabones IV adapter for the Sony A7RII with AF tests and it seems like the Fotodiox is just as good as the Metabones and also has a quick release tripod mount. Thought it was good info that people can still get full AF and a solid adapter with the cheaper adapter on the A7RII.

Thomas:I created a short video on time lapse with the Sony RX100 IV that may make good content to your viewers…. It would be an honor to have something I made on your site!! Link is here https://youtu.be/PE6LVLw67oQ

Lior: “Took the RX100 IV for a holiday in Austria – around Salzburg. It turned out to be a great vacation tool for video and stills. So small but so advanced. The video was shot originally in 4K and exported to 1080p. Great scenery in the Austrian alps, enjoy! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qo5ojPn24gY

Louis:Big fan of the site since I discovered it while looking for the great RX100 (Mark I is still holding up excellently after 4 years) and I’m now a daily visitor of your site awaiting for news on the next A6100 or A7000 ;) I wanted to share these videos taken with my Sony cameras:
