New Sony A7sII review by Cinema5D!

Share

a

Cinema5D (Click here) reviewed the new Sony A7sII. They like the camera that much they should rename their website CinemaA7 :)
This is their conclusion:

The Sony a7S II feels like a matured product. It is truly amazing to see how much technology is packed inside this little thing. As a documentary film shooter, this will become my preferred working tool. I treat those cameras like “a brain” that can be expended or minimise depending on the type of work I do. Additionally, I prefer internal 4K recording over an external device when ever possible or needed, so the Sony a7s II is the perfect working tool for me.

Last but not least, It is also worth mentioning that I did not have any overheating issues with the camera during the long shooting day. All was shot inside at normal room temperature. I would love to hear other user’s experiences and see if they had similar issues as reported with the a7R II.

And here are more brand new A7sII tests:

Techart firmware update improves the autofocus performance on Contax G lenses!

Share
[shoplink 39860 ebay]Bildschirmfoto 2015-10-09 um 10.10.41[/shoplink]

Techart again updated the firmware for their [shoplink 39860 ebay]Contax G to E-mount autofocus adapter (available here on eBay)[/shoplink]. With the new adapter autofocus speed has been again improved! You can download the firmware on Google Play (Click here) or iTunes (Click here). Techart Contax page: techart-logic.com/2015/G2.html

Chad Wadsworth already tested the new version and writes:

As of revision 2.1.0, released in October, 2015, the performance is rock solid with AF speed on both my lenses (45/2 and 90/2.8) that rivals a native lens – yes you read that correctly. I’ve noticed some minor hunting in low contrast / low light subjects but nothing major and native FE lenses frequently do the same. AF accuracy is spot on and the MF implementation now works as it used to, meaning that you can engage MF at any time by adjusting the small focus dial on the adapter. This is a major achievement by TecArt and finally makes these lenses viable options that I would feel confident shooting even for paid work.

And there are two videos posted on SonyAlphaCameras do show how good and how noisy(!) the adapter works on the Sony A7rII.

These are the Contax Full Frame lenses you can use on the A7-A7r-A7s and APS-C E-mount camera with full autofocus and electronic aperture control:
