RUMOR: Tamron 70-180mm FE will be released on May 14 for $1199 !!!

I can now confirm via multiple sources (Thank you all!) that:

  1. The Tamron 70-180mm f/2.8 USA preorders will open on May 14. Looks like preorders in Japan will open earlier.
  2. USA price will be $1199

This means the price of the Tamron is 46% of what you pay for the Sony 70-200mm f/2.8 GM lens :) And we know from the first review (read here) that the Tamron has super optical quality. So yes, I am pretty sure this is a Killer lens!
