6 months ago |Why trolling? I think his review is quite positive in general:
- He praises the lens for being very sharp even wide open. He does find distortion, vigneting and chromatic aberrations a bit high, but since they are corrected automatically he finds it a good compromise.
- He says the ergonomics are quite good, as is build quality. Performance is pretty good, and AF works fine.
- Exposure is good too.
- Screen is good.
- High ISO is very good, as expected from a new FF sensor
He just does not like two things: some flaw in the automatic and semi-automatic modes (which is think it’s a fair criticism . why don’t they go to f2 when you have such a good lens to do it? And why not go below 1/80th (or at least let you program it easily)? And the other things are the colors (and he shows two images which certainly have a green/yellow tint to them). You can agree with it or not, but the review is not trolling in any way.

6 months ago |I remember reeding once ” Ken Rockwell is a damfool who is always right”, in defence of Ken I have to say that his website let me understand some technical concepts when I started photography 4 years ago but his reviews are as usefull as a canon leaflet or a tv comercial, he is obviously paid somehow to speak nonsense.
But as I wrote “..is always right” he always speaks some truth, a better Auto mode would be desirable with such a camera and no distortion could be expected from a 2013 zeiss prime lens.
In my opinion the biggest flaw in the RX1 is the lack of EVF, camera would nbot have been much bigger and could be used in strong sun light, something imposible with a LCD like it happens on my NEX-5N. Seeing the total weight and size I think it would make a much well balanced camera.
One fun thing is he says the AF on the X100 is very good… come on, I sold my camera because I found AF pretty useles in low light but my worst concern was the completely useless MF

6 months ago |His reviews are as much of a joke as his pictures. I suspect this “artist” takes cookies from Canikon, otherwise it would be hard to explain his “reviews”. In any case, I think nobody with little knowledge of photography listens to this clown. I shoot Canon and Sony, both systems are good for certain things.

And what about being unable to find shutter speed dial. Geez… Is he really a camera reviewer? How he missed it makes me wonder if this will be the last time I will check on his site.
Interesting enough is the fact he likes more Canon or Nikon colours or even Apple Iphone 5 colours (that most people do agree, they saturated a little more than 4S making it too colourful), while most of my friends using Canon and Nikon have the tendency to like more the Konica Minolta legacy (Now, Sony colour rendition).
