Samyang links…
Quite a couple of people asked me where they can get the new Samyang NEX lens. I wanted to remind you that you can find them on eBay only for now, and that the new 8mm fisheye lens for NEX has been optimized for the NEX-VG10 camcorder! There should be a version for the “normal” NEX cameras coming later.
And if you have some doubts about the quality don’t worry! Read some tests of other Samyang lenses on Photozone (Click here). You will see those are very good quality lenses!
It’s worth to mention that Samyang made a total of four very good manual lenses for Alpha mount:
- The 8mm f/3.5 fisheye (Click here to see current auctions on eBay).
- The 14mm f/2.8 (Click here to see current auctions on eBay).
- The very good and very cheap 85mm f/1.4 (Click here to see current auctions on eBay).
- The 800mm f/8 (Click here to see current auctions on eBay).

2 years ago |What does it mean optimized for VG-10? Other then it is quite big to put on NEX-5
The sensors are identical, are not they? Or the lens is low resolution hence does great video as due to low optical resolution the aliasing artifacts are reduced

What a waste to buy an e-mount Saymang lens. These are totally manual lenses with manual control of aperture, so there is no gain in locking it into the e-mount system so it will fit no other camera. Better to buy it for A-mount, or Nikon or Canon depending on which brand you use for DSLR and then add a cheap adapter. If your second system is Sony alpha, there is no need to buy the expensive original LA-EA1 adapter for this. This way the lens can be used for two system and the second hand value will be better for sure. (I have a Samyang 8mm FishEye for Sony Alpha, great lens).
