Sony A560 Delayed until at least Jan 2011. Sony A33 now in Stock on eBay!

“Today I was phoned by Sonystyle USA and informed that the Sony Alpha A560 pre-orders for ALL customers are being cancelled until at least January 2011 or until further notice. Sony removed the Alpha A560 from its website completely a few days ago, and now pre order customers are getting word that production is being delayed until next year. This is an unfortunate occurance as I was very excited about the A560 and have never seen Sony do this before.
No word was given on the A580 units being available outside the US territories.”
BHphoto still says that the Sony A560 will be in Stock in October
P.S.:
- The Sony A55 will be in Stock in October
- The Sony Zeiss 24mm f/2.0 in November
- The Sony DT 35mm f/1.8 SAM Lens in October
For our german readers:
Sony Alpha 33 is in Stock on eBay Germany!

That’s not necessarily a bad thing, since Sony could have the time to perfectionate the tecnology of SLT without hassles. I am really curious of seeing what will come out with A77..

3 years ago |That’s nothing new. It says right in Sony’s announcement:
“The new DSLR-A560 digital SLR camera by Sony is available within the first quarter of calendar year 2011.”
Why did these shops think otherwise?

3 years ago |Incorrect, the press release for the US territory has the A560 w/kit lens coming in October(read at the bottom):
http://news.sel.sony.com/en/press_room/consumer/digital_imaging/digital_cameras/dslr/release/58159.html
“The α560 model with the camera body and 18-55mm kit lens will cost about $750 and will be available in October. With the body only, it will cost about $650.”

3 years ago |You know…it’s getting to the point where I’m seriously considering selling all my Sony DSLR equipment and going back to Canon. This is a ridiculously long time to wait for anything respectable from this company. All of these cheap, crappy toy cameras and nothing even remotely professional? What happened to the firmware updates for the A850/A900? What happened to the A700 replacement? This is utterly ridiculous. I can’t put my life on hold indefinitely for this company….

ABB
3 years ago |You mean the A850/A900 can’t take photos?
And from the 1Ds Mark something you can get a masterpiece?
If so then just sell your gear as soon as possible.
Not to Canon but spend the money on upgrading your technique first.

IMHO, Sony is doing a pretty good job thus far this year for outing new cameras with new features that seem to be trumping the competition . How often does Canon release a 1ds model ? And,fyi, the camera is just a portion of equation. Maybe it´s time to work on the other 70% !

3 years ago |Huh? What are you thinking? What has Canon got that can compare with the innovative products Sony has come out with in the last few months. READ the review in Luminous Landscape, and I can supply many more. I was in a shop that doesn’t sell Sony yesterday, and they wasn’t another customer in the place! NEX, the VG, and translucent are cutting edge, and will dominate the market for months. http://www.luminous-landscape.com/reviews/cameras/sony-a55-preview.shtml

Al i have seen from Sony lately are pocket consumer toys (nex) and plastic amateur dslr’s.

How many people really spend the money on full frame rigs to shoot video, and then still need have an assistant to pull focus because the tools are so unwieldy and really don’t work otherwise? Yes, we love to see ferraris, but most of us own toyotas and fords. In terms of actual innovations, the translucent camera is WAY ahead of canon – what good is a magnesium body if it can’t focus with in video mode, or monitor light levels. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kHPaVD0pHpQ

3 years ago |I know it is get confusing guys with all the new catagory’s of camera’s.
But lets keep the facts write please.
A SLR = Single lens Reflex, were reflex refers to the mirror movement.
A DSLR is a Digital SLR
A SLT = Single Lens Translusent (no mirror movement)
A DSLT = a Digital SLT
So a DSLR-SLT is total nonsens !!!!
Also “Mirrorless DSLR” is fully crap. Meant is an aps-c format digital camera wit exchangeble lens.
For this type DCE or DCX would be a good name.

3 years ago |I know it’s confusing guys, but English is a complex language. Learn when to use apostrophes for posessive, not plural words. Learn when to leave a y at the end of a word. Translucent has a c, not a second s. Nonsense has an e at the end of it. With has an h at it’s end (note the correct use of an apostrophe). If you’re going to lecture to people, at least show you have an education.

3 years ago |I’m sorry but there is no excuse for Sony’s lack of interest in pursuing the professional DSLR market. I’ve owned several Canon and Sony DSLRs in the past and I currently own the Sony A850 and I love it, but without any firmware update on the horizon and no A700 replacement in sight as a second pro body to make use of my lenses at both full-frame and APS distances…I’m ready to give up. It’s just been too damn long. I sold my A700 long ago in anticipation of an impending replacement. Now, like many others, I realize that was a mistake. Since the A700, Canon and Nikon have both come out with pro-level full-frame and APS-C DSLRs….Sony???? Nada!!!! I’m not that excited about the mini-toy camereas like the NEX or the translucent-mirror cameras. Who cares? Pros don’t. I don’t. I want a real meat and potatoes camera from Sony, and I know I’m not the only one who is starting to lose interest…sorry, that’s just the truth. I’m still waiting for my second pro backup body from Sony. Come on Sony, enough is enough. Give us an A700 replacement body NOW!!!!
ET
3 years ago |Grow up, dude. This isn’t the thread to whine about your FW and A700. Why are these idiots invade every thread and start posting the same whining about A700 replacement? There will be A700 replacement when it’s ready. Can’t wait? Buy the canon and get lost.

3 years ago |ET go home….you are in denial…Sony is abandoning professional imaging and embracing soccer mom’s across the universe. If the only people who are now interested in this site are pocket camera fanboys, then they should call this site “sonypocketcamerarumors.com”…geesh…grow up ET…really…

3 years ago |Just look at the Canon 50D–>60D, David you call that kind of improvement a satisfaction? Or take a look between 60D and 550D, can you really point out some meaningful differences?
Not to mention that the lacking of Nikon D400.
Wait, maybe in your point of view D300–>D300s was a huge step forward.
Canon? huh?

Let these rumor comments be for instant responses to the current rumors, instead of ‘I hate Sony’ or ‘I want to leave Sony’ or ‘Canon is doing a better job than Sony’ or ‘Sony can’t compare to Nikon’ or ‘Sony isn’t seriously trying to make cameras’ or ‘Sony cameras are toys’.
I laugh at you fools trying to put Sony down, but it’s freakin’ hard to sort the comments to find valuable information among the trash comments..

3 years ago |It appears to me that Sony are getting the technology right at the consumer level before rolling it out to the A7xx level, which is fine by me. Only Sony are big enough to release dSLRs into the market and test how they appeal to buyers, Canikon can not afford to do that, they simply aren#t big enough!
I think that the A7xx is going to be something special and will continue to shoot with my A700 and wait for it to arrive. I think that even now the A33/55 has blown Canikon away at that level and they are running scared.
Guys, your current Sony is still as good as it was when you first bought it, so go out and enjoy it. A storm is coming and Canikon are right to be worried.
vincentius
3 years ago |I thought because Sony is new that they like to test the waters, but your argument is because Sony is big? Interesting.
Yep, I won’t change my A700 until a good replacement comes out. It has served me well.
enesunkie
3 years ago |Canon and Nikon already tested the DSLR market and THEY found that there is a big market for bodies AND lenses. Maybe Sony is so big, they can’t see the forest with all the trees in the way. Also, it doesn’t look like the A560 and A7xx storms are going to be here for a while. Smooth sailing for Canikon!
vincentius
3 years ago |They tested the DSLR market long ago. With mirrorless and the immersion of technology to younger teenagers, not limited to the US, the market has changed.
Here’s the simplest. In my country, iPhone and Androids are nothing compared to Blackberry. In US, you’re talking about 2-3x differences in shares. In my country, you’re talking about 1 in 10 people using non-Blackberry phones now.
Sony found there’s a market for their products. Canikon do not accept that. They think their research is still fully valid. They are, but time corrodes it.
Time will tell. Take all these flames, trolls, boastings, defensiveness, with grains of salt always. What one person say one day may be true and then fully not reflective of the surroundings the next day. This goes to not only Canikon, but also Sony fanatics. I love my A700, but I will not boast it unlike the Canikon wielders that I know. Otherwise, I’m no different.
And again, enesunkie, Canikon have to be careful if they think like you. Great leaders has fallen because they did not notice the little things that creep up.
David
3 years ago |Personally, I believe the real reason the A560 was pulled was because of the LCD design. When the Canon 60D was announced, it had a brilliant LCD swivel design that made sense and is more user-friendly. I’m betting Sony is redesigning the A560/A580 body as we speak to accomodate such a design. And don’t get me wrong…I used to own the Canon 50D, and the image quality was absolutely pathetic, and I’m sure the 60D is equally so…I would still prefer Sony over both Canon and Nikon, but there really is no excuse for Sony’s laziness in the DSLR market. I don’t consider NEX or Translucent cameras to be pro-worthy tools, although I do admit that I wish there was an adapter for the A-mount that would allow the use of other companies’ lenses.
