(SR4) A7xx in Q3 the A3xx in June
According to various sources the Sony Alpha A3xx should be launched in June and the Sony Alpha A7xx at Photokina in September.
If the rumors becomes true that would be a disappointing news! We really hoped to get the A7xx in our hands soon

3 years ago |That is completely fine. I cant understand why everyone is getting so upset Sony has not put a new camera out. I am still using an A300 and know many people using A100, A200 or the A350. The A700 is quality as long as your not abusing it, it will last you till September.
Everyone invest is the Zeiss glass if you really need something to buy.

3 years ago |Hate to say “I told you so”, but that’s exactly what I expected after the last press release and the mockups at PMA. Let’s just hope that it’s worth waiting for…

3 years ago |Do you folks actually read or pay attention? The same Sony executive, some 4 months ago, said the A700-replacement would arrive at the end of 2010 at the very earliest. On Sunday, the same executive showed a mock-up with no specification. Why do you think the situation has changed?
Are you surprised that Fall will come in October?

3 years ago |I’ll have been waiting for two years for a successor (yes at that time the A700 was already not competitive) if we factor in this ‘delay’. Time to switch to Nikon I guess…

3 years ago |The new A7xx would have to be an absolute world beater. By September Nikon should have their D400 released and Canon will updating the 7D probably early in 2011. The A7xx would need a 100% pentaprism high magnification viewfinder, low noise sensor, high MP count, liveview with 1080p video and multiple framerates, decent autofocus, a weathersealed body, pro autofocus system and at least 8fps.
Call me cynical but Sony wont pull it off, they are make.believe

3 years ago |James, I partially agree… But knowing Sony, I’m not sure they’ll be able to deliver a camera on par with the competition (especially on the AF part). I don’t expect a 100% VF though (pro line only).
I will be less concerned about the sensor than I used to be last year because Sony they can deliver great performances with the A550. Let’s cross fingers…

3 years ago |Interesting.. last week when i visited the sony store the manager told me a different story saying that the new a7xx and the new 500mm lens would be released just before FIFA 2010 starts.
Kn
3 years ago |Hah… Jvs, the manager might sound resonable, if not, sony have to shoot FIFA using a900 all the way. That is not good because everyone will think only a900 worth buying. I’m still keeping my money.. but if the camera not release before FIFA, i guess I have to by some Nikon.

3 years ago |I totally agree with James. As much as we would like Sony to refine and release their baby A7XX, we are still talking about technology at the end of the day. Cameras are quick to phase out if we’re talking about prosumer level camera, you would expect to see Canon and Nikon to be unleashing a new wave of products by Q3. Timing and capturing the consumer market at a critical period is what Sony alpha system has always failed, maybe not the a850 which was released smoothly and stealthily. Still, theres too much hype for the A7XX now and by the time its released, I would predict that the fever is over and we’ll all be looking forward to something else.
Bad timing.

3 years ago |The only thing disappointing it your collective intellects. Sony claimed that the camera would be here in late 2010, or early 2011 at the soonest.
Why didn’t you imbeciles believe them? Now you’re disappointed. I’m disappointed in your ability to reason.
