(SR5) Sony mirrorless product announcement on October 12 (Colored NEX cameras or something else?)
Sony-alpha.saloon.jp found a scheduled press release from Sony at SankeiBiz that says that on October 12 at 13:00 Sony will “Unveil a new SLR mirror-less product“. I believe Sony will show the colored Sony NEX-5/NEX-3 cameras. It makes no sense to announce the NEX-7 right AFTER Photokina or not?
Reminder: According to our sources the NEX-7 will be a professional mirrorless camera that will compete against the new Panasonic GH2

Assume the justified assumption that google’s translation is somehow wrong — then all makes sense…

Sony promised us two mirror less products for q4 2010.
1. Zeiss prime lens – I will buy this for x-mas if available
2. New firmware
Nex-7. …. Not sure if I care this much about overpriced bulky full of useless buttons NEX similar to the rarely seen but much talked about panasonic gh-2/gh-1

3 years ago |Sounds like the right timing for the firmware upgrade, whicch if thehype is to be believed, effectively relaunches the nex3 and nex5.
But wouldn’t be surprised if its just some accessories.

3 years ago |Don’t forget the firmware update for NEX cameras allowing for autofocus when using Alpha-mount SAM and SSM lenses with the optional LA-EA1 mount adaptor is due for release by mid-October according to what Sony said at Photokina.

The only reason they didn’t show it at Photokina is that there was delay with getting the forest materials to create the mockup; they only had enough wood to show the A7x mockup; and the rest of the wood is being used for their new production SLTs.

I have the feeling the NEX 7 is further away than the A77.

3 years ago |colors are very important, whether of camera body or those in the photo’s. imagine if they take from you the colors of your images, or if the Pentax Kx was only available in black, god forbids.

3 years ago |If I were betting real money I’d say something pretty trivial like coloured NEX bodies.
Next most likely could be something like a VG20 – heavier duty pro-lite camcorder with things like more audio control, raw video etc.
After that I begin to think lenses.
I believe an NEX 7 is extraordinarily unlikely (though no impossible, after all take the NEX 5, add the new 16Mp sensor, a dial, a button and an EVF and you’re done.

* A77 with 2 mirrors (as shown in the latest rumor).
* A777 with 1 mirror (you take off 1 of the 2 mirrors of A77 it becomes A777).
* NEX7 with no mirror (you take off both mirrors, add adapter A-to-E mount and you have NEX7 w sensor shake to stabilize your pancake).
