2 years ago |If it’s not at least 7-way, I’m leaving Sony forever!
Will
2 years ago |Yes, I know many people want a 3-way.
KingRenas
2 years ago |ISO on NEX-5N is bigger than NEX-7, why Sony?
I can take more 30 shots on NEX-5 than NEX-7, isn’t the batteries the same? I heard OLED screens consume less energy.
What is the Autofocus system and speed on NEX-7?
I hope they still make improvements towards to the end product.
The Sony A77 looks good, but why so much differences towards the A65?
Nico
2 years ago |The more pixel you put in a small sensor the more it’s subject to noise in high iso, so that’s maybe the reason…
saiman
2 years ago |Andrea, do you have any information about the buffer size of A77?
The 12fps of 24MP now scares me of how many shots the buffer can take before it maxes out.
Also, I’m a bit disappointed with the 16,000 MAX ISO of A77… the “hundreds of thousands” ISO rumor had me dreaming I guess…. I hope this would atleast be the 1/3 stop of improvement over the A55 and the A580 that your previous sources mentioned.
TheHacker
2 years ago |Indeed, makes one wonder what happened to the high ISO performance rumors.
matgay
2 years ago |“hundreds of thousands” can be easily true. if native iso is 16,000, then expandable iso can go to 256,000
lhkjacky
2 years ago |I think the ISO can expand to “hundreds of thousands” either by Pixel Binning or Multi-Frame NR.
rel
2 years ago |What about the price of the NEX-5N?
Jan Kolena
2 years ago |Hi,
in previous spec, there was a battery life over 1000 shots, now you’ve wrote only 500! Please, can you ask you sources about it and also about the battery grip – will A65 have battery grip support too?
Žan Fras
2 years ago |Hmmm. only thing I am somehow worried about is battery. Battery is what I really hate on a55, so here would be nice at least 800 shots per battery…ISO isnt really problem for me, cuz not using more than 1600 or 3200 ..
phoheisel
2 years ago |60fps at full hd?? would be very nice!
holkle
2 years ago |Does it have a sspecial meaning, that there is no shutter speed given for the NEX-7?
horst
2 years ago |Where does it say the Nex 7 display isn’t tilting ?
I hope it does, else no Nex 7 for me …
Nico
2 years ago |+1 but it’s not specified either for Nex-5N, and they don’t have the choice on this body…
Jiri
2 years ago |Andrea, what are the functions of the NEX-7 touchscreen? Can it be used for pinpointing the focus spot?
Any Mouse
2 years ago |Mmmmhhhhh, so does this mean that the NEX-7 will have better high-iso performance than the A77, since no glass gets in the way?
SonyA77
2 years ago |In test results, yes. But there is no real world difference between the A580 and A55, so don’t get your hopes up.
Raghav
2 years ago |The benefits of the fixed mirror in the A77 resulting in continuous PDAF during video and faster focusing for still images far outweighs the increase in the noise due to 1/3 light loss. In the real world, the differences in noise would not even be noticeable. However, the advantages of PDAF certainly will be noticeable while shooting. Infact, they are more likely to be the USP (Unique Selling Point) for the A77.
ed paul
2 years ago |what do u mean there is no glass? the lenses in front are all glass~
does that means using 70200G will degrade the quality since it has lots of glass?
beavis
2 years ago |It´s funny how Olympus and now Sony claims: “Same AF speed as the GH2″.
They yearn to build such a camera…
GH3 is coming soon, so maybe they should consider global shutter instead of funny claims..:)
SonyA77
2 years ago |You can hardly conclude from that statement that they “yearn to build such a camera”. It is ore likely that Sony wants a camera to rival Canikon than Panasonic!
beavis
2 years ago |Why would they rival Canikon loosers?
Bob
2 years ago |what happened to the AFfine tuning capabilities on the a77?
SonyA77
2 years ago |Indeed, this has been asked three times now, hopefully the admin simply missed it off the list and will update when he gets time.
SonyA77
2 years ago |Anybody thinking that the 1,000 shots claim was with the vertical grip and two batteries?
Harri
2 years ago |Where is WiFi?
Sony is about to release S1 and S2 tablets, which could be used as wireless remote controllers AND the bigger one also as a wireless wiev-screen or a monitor.
Sony is proud to integrate the different product lines – VAIOs, tablets, Bravias, Playstations, Cybershots and whatever – but where is the integration with Alphas? Come on, Sony, really!
Alexey Ozerov
2 years ago |Not sure – A580 took 2,5 fully charged battery to made 5500 raw files. During one day – mostly with 58 flash. 95% with optical viewfinder. So even with OLED viewfinder 1000 fotos looks real.
BTW Andrea – any info about buffer size? How long camera can stay on 12 fps speed?
Garreth
2 years ago |That would be nice, might even make me consider giving my iPad to the kids if Sony made it exclusive to their tablet
EvanZ
2 years ago |What I really want to know is the weight of the Nex-5N vs. Nex-7.
Nick
2 years ago |WHAT?!?!?!?!? No CF card??? Those freaking jerks. Do I really have to go out and buy more of these crummy SD cards????
SonyA77
2 years ago |Why are you complaining about buying SD cards when the body alone is going to cost you 1050 EURO / 1300 USD? The cost of SD is a fraction of the cost of the body and lenses.
Nick
2 years ago |I’ve invested over $1600 in Hoodman CF cards recently. SD cards are garbage; they’re easy to lose and the build is worse. Not to mention, I’ve never heard of a pro body camera utilizing SD cards. Very poor decision.
Alexey Ozerov

2 years ago |Really disapointing that the 24 zeiss will not work (leaf shutter) on nex 3/5 – C3/5N …
i was hoping so much about this wide angle !!!
and next year what will be the surprise of the G lens … an other bad one for “old” nex owner ??
Froo
2 years ago |Why wouldn’t it work?
AudioDoc
2 years ago |What? No GPS in the NEX-7 and NEX-5N? If that’s true, it is a huge disappointment! What about grid overlay? Features like these would be many times more important than all this emphasis on video, for my photography! AT this point, not having had my hands on these cameras, lack of OVF is also huge negative as is any APS-C sensor. But I do understand that that is what a lot of folks want — just not for me.
Maveric19
2 years ago |ISO is 100-16000? What happend to ISO over 100,000 as previously reported? In order to compete against Nikon high ISO is a must. Canon on the other hand does not worry me.
hanugro
2 years ago |If ISO 16000 is as good as A550 ISO6400 then it is good. Sony’s newest sensor is as good as it gets compare with Canon’s. IMHO, it may provide even higher ISO with multi frame noise reduction (only good for still object).

2 years ago |Photorumors also lists it with GPS support, not built in GPS. I’d hate to have some hotshoe mounted accessory like Nikon has.

2 years ago |Andrea
I don’t see it listed for the A77 and it was rumored many times int the past.
Auto focus micro adjust???

2 years ago |Didn’t get that info now. Sorry!

2 years ago |Thanks
Well SSS also isn’t listed but I’m sure its in there.
19 more days and it will be written in stone.

2 years ago |Regarding Sony’s decision to go with SD cards…. this news just popped up today:
http://www.gillavi.com/blog/leica/leica-m9-sandisk-failure/
Interesting… I really wish they included CF cards in the mix with the camera…
Terryfried
2 years ago |Leica dont and as it was more than one peson and 1 type of card it looks like a leica problem and could have hapened no mater what type of card it used. This argument is rather stale as there is no real reason to use CF hence nobody does.
Steve Jones
2 years ago |SDHC is a common format on camcorders and increasingly the only option on quite a number of DSLRs. In any event, a professional camera (in the true sense that people use it for paid work) ought to provide the option of writing files to two different cards for security. I’m not sure there is any evidence that CF cards are more reliable than SDHC, but either could fail.
However, in this case, it sounds like a Leica-related issue.
Fants
2 years ago |If this is going to compete with the X100 (which really, it isn’t…especially considering Sony will probably make 10x more of them in the first month than Fuji’s made total), then the NEX-7 + 24mm kit has to cost no more than $1500. Seeing as that’s virtually impossible (I’d say $2000 in the very least), it’s silly to compare the two.

2 years ago |Love all the video stuff. Love the way the NEX-7 is looking. Thing is, if it had GPS on it, then it would be an instant buy. None of my photos are GPS tagged because who has the time to do that? But I wish they were– I really wish they were!
So, maybe I’ll wait until 2012 and they might release an update to the NEX-5 or 7 with GPS.
Though I do like the idea of an EVF….and video… it’s just too soon to replace the NEX-5 unless its really compelling.
Allan
2 years ago |Im looking squarely at the NEX-7, but not going to buy it until it has built in GPS and Sony gets serious about JPG conversion. I don’t want to shoot in Raw all the time. So I’m sitting back and watching the market. Maybe Canon will make a 70D with built in GPS first?
Mattaus
2 years ago |Any indication if the NEX-5N will feature full manual controls in video as well? If it does I’d purchase that over the NEX-7 to save some cash as it’s the video that really sells these cameras to me…
Ray
2 years ago |Any information about maximum flash sync speed ?
Would it be improved from the old 1/250s ?
Cheers!
Kiril
2 years ago |My biggest fear – it may turn out none of the new cameras will work in studio.
A55 is disaster in studio it seems,
NEX-5 is uber cool camera and does not do any flash – studio has not even crossed my mind. I keep my A700
I wonder if Sony understand this is a sales blocker. Especially for more expensive gear. You cannot use it to even attend any photo training – while a miserable D40 will do fantastic.

2 years ago |Poo, I am going to hold out for the A99 with 12-way-tilting screen… everybody knows that what really impresses the chicks is how many ways your screen tilts…
…seriously, these specs all sound pretty persuasive to me. ISO 16000 is plenty if it’s GOOD… I’d rather have usable 16000 than looks-good-on-the-spec-sheet-but-horrible-pix ISO 128,000 or 256,000 or whatever.
Proof will be in the pudding, of course, but suddenly ditching my current Nikon (dSLR) and Panasonic (m4/3) systems and going to all Sony is starting to seem both feasible and appealing. Is there any chance the A77 and NEX-7 use the same battery? Please oh please?? I assume they can both use the same dedicated flash system and that there’s a NEX adapter for A-series lenses… just think, for the first time since the film era, all my stuff would work with all my other stuff!

2 years ago |where they a fake those new talking about a new nex with A mount?
I am very interested in it…or
is there any nex adaptor that can let you use A mount WITH autofocus for nex 7 ?

2 years ago |Whats the AEB (auto expousure bracketing) settings in a77?
If its possible to set X nuber of pictures at ±X EV would it be grat!
The present ±0.7EV max on a700 is katastrofic…
Is it possible to use the evf in a studio enviroment? (using flashes in manual mode)

{I’m talking about the body only.}

2 years ago |was that really a FULL specs of a77? Nothing else?? Nearly all the a55/580 specialities dropped off. How about MS card? “Hundreds of thousands” ISO is 16000? Battery life dropped to 500?? No stabilizer in body??? No panorama, face or smile recognizion or other (ok, actually unnecessary
toys. Maybe time to turn back to older models.

1) Any word on manual exposure control for video?
2) Also, any 25p or 30p setting? I find it interesting that 60p is mentioned without any of these intermediate frame rates.
Would appreciate any reliable input on these questions!

2 years ago |Both the A77 and Nex7 look like amazing cameras; I hope they are. I am worried though that the perported 12fps in the A77 is as limited as the 10 FPS in the A55. If we can shoot at that speed in any mode, not one assigned to us by Sony, then this will be a dud to those of us who see this as a sports photography machine.
