At the CP+ show Samyang will show a very early prototype of a 20-50mm f/2.0 FE lens!

A reliable source has just told me that Samyang will announce the new 60-180mm f/2.8 FE lens at the Cp+ show, a lens we already saw a couple of months ago (see image above). Although the source did not specify whether the 28-135mm f/2.8 FE will also be on display, they added that Samyang will be showing some new prototypes of “extreme” lenses. One of these is an impressive new 20-50mm f/2.0 FE lens!

Samyang’s goal is to gather feedback on these new prototypes and, if there is sufficient interest, proceed with their production. Some 5 years ago Tamron did patent the optical design for a 20-50mm f/2.0 FE lens but it has never materialized.

Although the Sony 28-70mm f/2.0 GM is an exceptional lens, I would personally prefer a version with a wider angle. I imagine the lens will be quite large, but who cares… it would be nice to have something new, don’t you think?
