Yesterday I told you that A77 stocks were almost finished. But I didn’t think it would be sold out that soon! I check all major US online stores and the only A77 I found in Stock is the super A77 kit at Amazon (Click here). To bad it’s out of Stock. The camera reached the 8th position at Amazon ranking (Click here). I would have been curious to see if it would have gone close to the top Nikon and Canon camera volume sales! P.S.: The NEX-5n is the most sold camera in the mirrorless setion (Click here).

And what’s really interesting is that interview with the Sony A77 and A65 designers at Sony.net (Click here). For the A77 and A65 the designers used a styling technique called “Tensile Skin.” I really didn’t understand well what that kind of design is and the explanation made by a Sony designer sounds a bit funny: “What helped me explore this idea was an ordinary sock. As soon as I stretched the sock over our structural mock-up, it transformed the jumble of blocks into a coherent, sculptural unit. It looked fresh, and the jutting edges resonated nicely with the gentle contours. Although this unified whole could be called “monoform,” it was hardly monotonous, and there was a pleasant sense of tension. I knew that following this approach would lead us to the new shape for Alpha SLRs.”

A couple of SAR readers (Thanks!) sent me a new message sent by Sonystore USA to the customers who preordered the NEX-7. It basically confirms what we heard from other sources. The NEX-7 will be shipped in very small quantities to early pre orders and than a long time will pass until it will back in Stock (March?).

Here is the official message:

I bet those of you that will be lucky to get the NEX-7 can resell the camera on [shoplink 8454 ebay]eBay[/shoplink] for double the price :)  There are still some stores accepting pre order like Adorama or Amazon Deutschland but I doubt they will ship those within the next 2-3 months.

Finally! Plenty of A77 body only cameras are in Stock at Amazon (Click here) and BHphoto (Click here).

For the first time Amazon has the A77 in Stock (Click here to get it now!). I don’t know how long it will be available.

Many SAR readers contacted me to tell me that Amazon US is finally shipping the early pre orders from August and September. But also other stores are shipping like Simplyelectronics (1 A77 is still in Stock). You cannot preorder the camera now at Amazon but the little sisther the A65 is in Stock at Amazon (Click here). In Europe even people from Sweden or Italy contacted me that stores like Scandinavian Photo in Stockholm and Amazon.it are also having the A77 in Stock. Same status for Amazon.de and Amazon.co.uk.
