The usual suspect websites keep posting their own wild speculations and selling them as “rumors” to make their living. I am not going to link to those websites but readers kept asking me frequently today what I think about those rumored Sony A7V specs. In short…those are just self made “creative” speculations from websites that never got ONE single rumor right!

The following A7V rumor list is a simple mix of a real Sony sensor spec (IMX366AJK) and well educated and obvious features:

I just got these images of a new anamorphic zoom lens from Laowa. As you can see from these images this is NOT the current 25-100mm t/2.9 cine lens. The image also appears to show the EF-mount Z-Cam. The source told me the following:

• This is an anamorphic zoom that will be available in different mounts
• it’s t/2.9
• This will be a LOT more affordable than all those $30k plus zooms you can find right now (see here at BH).

According to a couple of sources there might be a new ZV-E10II coming in Spring 2024. I still have no final reliable specs but this might be based on the A6700 camera. Basically same specs expect of the missing EVF and no IBIS.

PetaPixel claims that Sony gave up on the RX lineup and that Fuji is our best hope to get a new Full Frame fixed lens cameras. But I think they are wrong! I have finally a tiny bit of hope that Sony will launch a new RX1 camera in 2024. I have no final confirmation yet…but because It’s Christmas time and I am allowed to express my wishes: I hope this will be the world’s first Full Frame camera with curved sensor and 35mm f/1.4 lens!
