Two Sigma APS-C lenses (including epic f/1.8 zoom) will be announced on June 17…four more FF lenses coming soon after!
Sigma continues to push forward with the release of new lenses, and today I have some exclusive, exciting news to share with you! On June 17, at the BildExpo event (register here) Sigma will announce new lenses:
- Sigma 17-40mm f/1.8 APS-C ART autofocus lens
- Sigma 12mm f/1.4 APS-C Contemporary autofocus lens (with aperture ring).
I have to say that the 17-40mm f/1.8 is particularly exciting as it offers APS-C camera owners the light gathering ability and bokeh quality of an f/2.8 FF lens. Impressive! This lens will probably be optically better and more compact than the legendary 18-35mm f/1.8.
ONE MORE RUMOR:
Sigma is supposed to hold another product announcement event in August/September that will focus more on new full frame lenses. There are rumors of four new FF lenses, I don’t know if 1-2 of them will be unveiled or announced on June 17:
- Sigma 200mm f/2.0
- Sigma 35mm f/1.2 II
- Sigma fast telephoto prime lens with specs never seen before
- Sigma travel zoom lens with specs never seen before
I should have more details on all of these lenses soon. Stay tuned!
