3 years ago |Good, good! 60p confirmed. I also hope for better noise control, better stitching algorithms (40mpx panorama would be useless useless with errors).
They just MISSED THE POINT that consumers has no device to view as large images.
2k now and next year 4k. All consumers view images at 2k which is maximum size of crisp image this camera can produce anyway…

3 years ago |The HX100V uses the same FH50 battery as the HX1 does. Also it has a zoom ring that can be customized-it’s been a few years since we’ve seen a Sony Cyber-shot model with one.

3 years ago |On Sony press site is says 1920×1080 50p.
Thomas
3 years ago |I think that depends on whether you run PAL or NTSC. PAL is only 50p (Please correct me if I’m wrong)
P.S.: Are you from Norway?
Adi
3 years ago |60p for all NTSC countries (US,Canada,Japan…). In fact for countries with 110V/60 Hz power. 50p for PAL and in general countries with 220V/50 Hz power. This is not something new, and it’s the same for interlace.

3 years ago |These look like great cameras. But I just dont get why Sony doesn’t provide for raw format on these cameras. It would encourage more serious shooters who use the benefits of raw to consider these cameras for travel and similar use.

3 years ago |If you’re using the quickburst, HDR, panorama, 3-shot-high-ISO features then it’s all in JPG. And my guess is that those features are what people are going to be buying the camera for. I honestly don’t see the big deal with RAW anyways…unless you’re super pro. Lightroom still edits jpgs just fine. I haven’t used RAW for months.

3 years ago |I’m not going to spend big bucks for a fixed lens camera without a lens filter thread.

3 years ago |No raw = no deal.

3 years ago |Great features. I see that finally Sony does not cut features in cameras not to eat on camcorders sales. These cameras have all the features of a good camera and a great camcorder (1080p60, Steady Shot with Active mode…). I suppose next DSLTs and NEX series will have these also. I consider HX9 as a small pocket camera for travel.HX100 is nice but at it’s size I would rather get an SLT , with a better sensor.

3 years ago |Raw in point and shoot cameras = totally unnecessary if manufacturers quit compressing the jpeg file so much. Even then raw is still more for the enthusiast’s ego on a compact camera than it is anything practical. There’s just not enough color advantage to make it worth the time spent correcting Adobe’s horrendous sidecar files.
No raw also does not a bad camera make.
Everything else specified on the HX9 will eclipse the S95 if done well, and for less, as an example.
Raw is a tertiary feature at best and the lack of inclusion made way for a host of improvements.
I’m rather pleased there isn’t a raw option.

3 years ago |Actually, from my experience it does pay off a lot to use RAW for these cameras. And that’s based on a Panasonic jpeg engine, which imho is miles ahead of the recent Sony jpeg engines found in these superzooms. Way too much NR means RAW can improve things a lot.
Vlad
3 years ago |Raw is always useful no matter the camera. Mistakes happen, moments do not repeat. ANd there isn’t only color that you can pull out from a Raw.
