More new NEX-6 image samples. And A99 versus RX1 at Engadget.
Imaging Resource posted a new set of NEX-6 image samples and writes: “It’s a nice addition to the NEX line, particularly with its hybrid AF that should help video focusing. Image quality looks pretty good”
UPDATED: Also Dpreview posted a NEX-6 image gallery.
Steve Huff also published new pictures and says: “For those wondering if the NEX-6 is an improvement over the NEX-7 I would say DEFINITELY. It is quicker, snappier, more responsive, does not seem to overheat (in my limited use so far),has sharp IQ, comes with a great new kit zoom and even feels better with its matte finish.”
Engadget also tried to make an A99 versus RX1 image comparison but you can’t really see any difference based on that test.

8 months ago |Indeed, and I wonder why. They’re supposed to have the same dynamic range, if anything else, I would expect the A99 to be inferior due to the SLT. Too bad, the RX1 can only go 1/2000 at WO. I’ll wait for it to drop to around $2000 to get one.

- 16MP is sufficient; 24MP Is a bit much
- faster AF with PDAF
- more responsive (from improved firmware?)
- more traditional controls (with mode dial, than tri-navi
- more standard hotshoe
- smaller kit zoom that is wider (16mm vs 18mm)
- cheaper

The NEX7 suffers a severe vignetting problem caused by quite short mount to sensor distance. This has been prooved by some trustable neutral reviewers.
Sure Sony was aware of this prior final design of the NEX6, so i assume this being a non-issue on it.

i have 3 of them, with the same set-up, one 5N one 5R and one 7 and with big surprise the 5N is the fastest and most responsive of all!!!Fastest to focus in dark , and normal lighting!!!!!
What s improvement phase and contrast focus detection gives on 5 r, i dont know,,,,,,
The 7 is very fast but not as 5n but as 5R.
I have 3 nex with the same set up and i do many experiments in many situations to compare the 3 , and the difference in speed in very little!
When i read Mr.Huff article, i have been VERY SURPRISED of his conclusion on the Nex-6,because the 5R have the same engine but without evf….
With all my respect to Mr.Huff probably the 6 he test was different from the 5R final consumer firmware…or ……
I like these 3 Nex cameras, each have his own personnality.
But , Mr.Huff’s articles does not reflect what i test with the 3 different cameras…….with the same set up in the same environment!

in suny outdoor and indoor condition , with the same lens, i confirm to you, the 3 cameras i have, 5N 5R and 7 have not more or less comparative vignetting in the same condition and with the same set-up……..

Try each and select what ‘s you prefer!
I agree with you, SONY TAKE CARE of SONY buyers because soon or late you will pay for not taking care of us…….
